Ok, STL, we need your help to !! ❤️💛💙

Since Thursday, we have been asking for help reducing our population of crated dogs. These dogs are living in crates for days and weeks on end and deserve better. 🥹

13 amazing dogs have left for foster or adoption over the last few days, but we need a big turn out today to meet our goal of 42 dogs finding homes! 🩵

Nebula has been with us since June and has yet to get just 1 application. 🥺 She's a dog that's come so far since we got her from scared and shut down to actually craving attention. She just needs a family to give her a chance. Is that you?? 🙏

Nebula's story ➡️➡️➡️ She came to us after just having babies in a sad animal control kennel, alone scared, confused. 🥺 She was a great momma and after her babies were old enough we moved her to a new foster home where she got all the attention. ❤️ She had a lot to learn about being a dog, poor girl you could tell she's had a rough life. Nebula has come sooooo for and is now making huge progress. 🎉 She now comes to her foster mom without hesitation, she actually jumps on the bed to say hello, will follow her foster mom around, and has been staying out of her crate and not hiding in there. These are amazing things to accomplish for a dog that came to us shut down.❤️ She's all things friendly, house/crate trained. She is approx 3-4 yrs old, 60lbs, mix unknown but has some poodle/terrier. She'd really love to begin the next chapter of finding her forever home!! She would do best with a dog friend. 🙏 ❤️🐾

Now that the leaves 🍂have started to fall, it’s time to help the pet population fall too‼️

This Thursday, September 19th, at the Hazelwood Community Center, SAVE is partnering with Stray Rescue to provide spay/neuter for 24 cats/dogs (plus microchips and vaccines (1 year). This is an opportunity for North County residents to spay/neuter their pets for FREE‼️

You can schedule your appointment starting at 8 AM tomorrow by emailing [email protected]. First come, first serve. This event will fill up quickly!

St. Louis County SAVE's mission is to lower the euthanasia rate to as close to zero as possible in St. Louis County. By preventing unwanted pregnancies, we are working towards this goal. This is Smokey, I’ve been grooming him for almost 2 years and he is one of the best boys ever! Well mannered, neutered, house broken, perfect size( a little over weight) , loves dogs and people. Smokey doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, he just wants to be loved and with his friends.
Smokey’s mom is not in a a safe place and has been trying to get out but needs to find a home for Smokey.

Update: Safe! Went to foster ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Stewie is in desperate need of a miracle as he continues to struggle at the shelter. Despite being given a higher dose of anxiety medication, he refuses to settle back into his room. During a trial adoption a few weeks ago, his potential adopter mentioned that Stewie behaved well in the home and was friendly with people, but not particularly affectionate. He prefers to be left alone to do his own thing. We are hopeful that with time, patience, and love, the affectionate side of Stewie will emerge if he is given the opportunity to decompress.

It has proven to be quite difficult to safely coax Stewie out of his room and back again. A secure and quiet basement may be the ideal environment for him to relax and unwind. Stewie arrived at the shelter on December 22, 2023, at around 1 year old and weighing about 60 pounds. He is not fond of other dogs or small animals, though these observations could be subject to change.

We have seen many instances where a dog blossoms in a loving home environment with the right care and attention. Stewie's time is running out, but we are holding out hope for a much-needed miracle. Our organization has been fortunate to witness miracles for our animals many times, and we are praying that Stewie will be the next recipient. He needs the support of all of us to make this happen.
