This is Smokey, I’ve been grooming him for almost 2 years and he is one of the best boys ever! Well mannered, neutered, house broken, perfect size( a little over weight) , loves dogs and people. Smokey doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, he just wants to be loved and with his friends.
Smokey’s mom is not in a a safe place and has been trying to get out but needs to find a home for Smokey.

Update: Safe! Went to foster ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Stewie is in desperate need of a miracle as he continues to struggle at the shelter. Despite being given a higher dose of anxiety medication, he refuses to settle back into his room. During a trial adoption a few weeks ago, his potential adopter mentioned that Stewie behaved well in the home and was friendly with people, but not particularly affectionate. He prefers to be left alone to do his own thing. We are hopeful that with time, patience, and love, the affectionate side of Stewie will emerge if he is given the opportunity to decompress.

It has proven to be quite difficult to safely coax Stewie out of his room and back again. A secure and quiet basement may be the ideal environment for him to relax and unwind. Stewie arrived at the shelter on December 22, 2023, at around 1 year old and weighing about 60 pounds. He is not fond of other dogs or small animals, though these observations could be subject to change.

We have seen many instances where a dog blossoms in a loving home environment with the right care and attention. Stewie's time is running out, but we are holding out hope for a much-needed miracle. Our organization has been fortunate to witness miracles for our animals many times, and we are praying that Stewie will be the next recipient. He needs the support of all of us to make this happen. I am more than excited to be back in my neighborhood and just 2 blocks from home. Driving down Arsenal Sunday with the U-Haul and seeing our beautiful park and everyone with their dogs out and about on a beautiful day brings me soooo much joy ✨✨✨

Rascal checking in and asking you to please share this post. He's been with us over a month but before that he was in a shelter then boarding for a year just waiting to find someone to adopt him. He keeps getting overlooked and we don't know why he's really a great dog!!! 🥰🤞

He is friendly everything and everyone...dogs, cats, kids, people! He's housebroken and crate trained, great in a car. He'd love another playful dog to be friends with. MERRY EVERYTHING AND A HAPPY ALWAYS!!
I want to apologize for being so absent on my social media accounts.
I’ve been solo here at the salon since September and social media has not been a priority.
I am overwhelmed with the generosity that all of you gave during the holiday and for your patience while a million things are constantly changing around here.
I have been on this roller coaster ride since Covid 2020….im not complaining but I’m ready to get off and start 2024 with a clean slate!😅
I opened FFGS 10/1/13 and come February I will
be relocating the salon for the 3rd time (and hopefully last)
The current building I’m in was sold in May and they are not renewing my lease in March. I have been searching and searching and have found the perfect home for Flying Fur.
The location is back in TGS on Morganford at Wyoming. My plan is to be up and running in February at the new location. This is all I have for now but will be posting and keeping you guys updated on here as often as possible.

Dog bite prevention week is here. Most, if not all, bites are preventable.

The National Dog Bite Prevention Coalition recommends the following tips:

-Make sure your pet is healthy. Not all illnesses and injuries are obvious, and dogs are more likely to bite if they are sick or in pain. If you haven't been to the veterinarian in a while, schedule an appointment for a checkup to discuss your dog's physical and behavioral health.

-Take it slow. If your dog is unused to contact with those in your family, don't rush out into crowded areas or dog parks. Try to expose dogs to new situations slowly and for short periods of time, arrange for low-stress interactions, and give plenty of praise and rewards for good behavior.

-Educate yourself in positive training techniques and devote time to interact with your dog.

-Get outside for leash training and allow your dog to socialize.

-Gradually start arranging play dates with other dogs and people, and carefully increase the amounts of time and freedom together. This will help your dog get used to being with other canine companions.

-Be responsible about approaching other people's pets. Ask permission from the owner before approaching a dog, and look for signs that the dog wants to interact with you. Sometimes dogs want to be left alone, and we need to recognize and respect that.
