🚨 Special Boy Looking for a Special Home 🚨
Meet Kimbo, the gentle giant with a heart as big as his head! ❤️ This approximately 5-year-old sweetheart came to us earlier this month as an owner surrender, and we knew right away that something was a little different about him. A trip to the vet confirmed our suspicions—our best guess is that Kimbo suffered a stroke when he was younger, possibly due to complications from anesthesia during his (less-than-professionally-done) ear crop.
Because of this, Kimbo has some nerve and reflex issues on his right side. You might notice his adorable little tongue always hanging out, or how he leans on walls and people for support—especially when he sneezes or shakes his head. But don’t let that fool you—Kimbo is a lovebug of epic proportions and just wants to be someone’s oversized lap dog. 🐶💙
🐾 Kimbo has done well with other dogs, though he’s not overly playful. He’d do best with a calm companion who won’t roughhouse too much (his balance isn’t great, and let’s be honest, no one wants to be body-slammed unexpectedly). A meet-and-greet is required to ensure a good match!
Due to Kimbo not being neutered yet, adoption location restrictions will apply.
💙 If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate pup who just needs a little extra support (literally), Kimbo might be your guy! Come meet him today at Stafford County Animal Shelter—we’re open 11:00 AM - 5:30 PM.

Ti o & Carma
💔 150 Days and Counting... 💔
Today marks a heartbreaking milestone at Stafford County Animal Shelter. Tino and Carma, our dynamic duo, have now been with us for 150 days. 150 days of waiting. 150 days of hoping. 150 days of wondering why no one has come for them.
We’ve posted about them several times, yet when people visit, no one asks to meet these two. And honestly? We’re dumbfounded. Tino and Carma are amazing. They’re goofy, loving, and full of personality—everything you could want in a pair of best friends.
Our hearts ache for them with each passing day. They don’t deserve to spend another night in a shelter. They deserve a couch, warm cuddles, and someone to call their own. Could that someone be you?
Tino is a neutered 9-year-old boy with a playful spirit, and Carma is a spayed 11-year-old girl with a heart of gold. They’re bonded, which means they’re looking for a home together—and trust us, two is better than one!
Let’s make today the day their wait ends. Let’s make day 150 their last day in a shelter. Are you the one who can give these lovable goofs the forever home they’ve been dreaming of?
📍 Come meet them today at Stafford County Animal Shelter. They’re ready to fill your life with love. ❤️
***UPDATE: Izzy has been adopted!***
🚨 URGENT: Sweet Senior Izzy Needs a Hospice 🚨
We are 💔 heartbroken for Izzy, a 14-year-old Chihuahua who has been with us for 43 long days after being surrendered to the shelter through no fault of his own. For Izzy, each day feels like an eternity.
Despite our best efforts, we’ve been unable to find him a rescue, hospice placement, or loving retirement home. Izzy is a tiny 10-pound senior 🐾 who has been neutered and microchipped. He’s a sweet, gentle old soul who just wants a warm, safe place to live out his golden years. 🏡
Izzy spends his days curled up quietly in his bed 🛏️, waiting for someone to see him, care for him, and take him home. What Izzy truly needs is love—a family to give him the comfort and companionship he so desperately deserves.
It’s devastating to see him waiting, day after day, for a family that may never come. 😔 Please help us change his story. Share this post, tag a friend, or open your heart and home to this sweet senior who still has so much love to give. ❤️

SNOW DAY FOR SIMON
Simon, our adoptable 2-3 year old American Foxhound, got to enjoy some time outside recently and as you can see, he had an absolute blast. He gets along great with kids and is still a “kid” at heart himself. He is destined to become the center of attention with his forever family, whom he has been waiting for since July of 2024
Simon is looking for an active family or person with a securely fenced-in backyard who will provide him the opportunity to stretch his legs and include him in adventures to the park or perhaps a hike or two.
Simon has previously been in a home with kids, and although he is higher-energy, he is great with humans of all sizes, while he can get a little mouthy when in play, he responds to correction quite quickly once he understands what you are asking. Both toy and food-motivated, incredibly smart, and eager to please, Simon is still a puppy in both his energy and temperament and he fits the bill of a pup who should not be judged by how he behaves in a kennel. As you can see, he loves the opportunity to have fun and burn off that youthful energy and knows someone just as fun as he is is out there!
He gets along with other dogs with proper introductions (any potential canine siblings must come for a meet-and-greet) and is at times, socially immature and learning how to properly "dog". He would likely thrive in a home with other dogs with structure and someone who can help him be the best boy possible! While we do not know how Simon is with cats, he might be a bit too boisterous for those feline friends.
Simon is neutered, so there are no restrictions on adoption and is also rabies vaccinated and microchipped. Adoptions are conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis and conclude half an hour prior to closing. Adopters will need to be prepared to show a picture ID and/or proof of residency if the ID does not have the current address. Adoption fees for dogs are $45 and cats are $35. Simon's adoption fee has been gener
