Ruffled Baby Bloomers are my specialty! Hello, My name is Terrie Gerringer. I grew up in rural North Alabama. Out in the country. Like Jeff Foxworthy says: You go out of town...way out, turn off the main road, onto the paved road with no lines painted on it.....then, you turn off the paved road onto the dirt road. You're almost there :-) Right there -

between the cow pasture and the cotton patch....that's where I grew up. :-)
I now live near Charlotte, North Carolina, with my hubby, Curtis and our five beautiful kitties. Our kitties are:
Miss Sparkles, age 14
Ms. Cami, age 13
Miss Scooter, age 12
Miss Taterhead, age 12
Dr. Sheldon Cooper, age 2
All of or kitties are rescues. :-)

Miss Sparkles is a lovely black and white long haired girl. We had made a trip home to Alabama for my nephew, Levi's high school graduation, while there. we found out that one of the sort of "skittish outdoor cats" had recently had kittens. We brought Sparkles back to NC in May of 2001. In October of 2002, Ms. Cami was dropped off and left for dead, when she was only a few weeks old...on the dead end road that my parents live on in Alabama. We adopted Cami in May of 2003. At the time she was pregnant. On June 2, 2003, she had four beautiful kittens! 2 boys and 2 girls :-) We kept the two girls, we named them Scooter and Taterhead...and found good homes for the two boy kittens. We adopted Cooper in February of 2013. He was at the PetSmart in Monroe, NC. A rescue group had saved his pregnant mother from an animal shelter in Gastonia...they found a foster home for the momma. After the momma kitty gave birth and the kittens were old enough, they were put up for adoption. That is how we came to find Cooper. I came up with the name "Queen City Kitties" from a longer version of a description of my life. Here's the short story:

I grew up out in the country, down a dead-end dirt road, in a rural area of north Alabama.....moved to a big city in the Spring of 1988. (Charlotte, NC)

As many young girls....who pretend to be a Princess...playing dress up, wearing cute shoes and pretty "glass slippers", pretending to wear a long flowing gown(which was really an old bed sheet wrapped around my shoulders)and longing to have a shiny crown or a sparking tiara....I quickly realized that being a Princess is not Reality. I think reality it hit while I was out in the cotton patch......,either: choppin' cotton', pickin' cotton' or put sodie out on the cotton :O

I have always had a passionate love for cats. Currently, we have five beautiful kitties....they are my "babies"....since, I do not have any real children of my own, although I do have two wonderful step-sons, my kitties are my babies ! Charlotte, North Carolina is known as "The Queen City". I am the "Queen" of my castle. hence: QUEEN CITY KITTIES

Our Story

Hello, My name is Terrie Gerringer. I grew up in rural North Alabama. Yep! Out in the country. Like Jeff Foxworthy says: You go out of town...way out, turn off the main road, onto the paved road ...then, you turn off the paved road onto the dirt road. You're almost there :-) Right there - between the cow pasture and the cotton patch....that's where I grew up. :-) I now live near Charlotte, North Carolina, with my hubby, Curtis and our seven beautiful kitties. Ms. Cami, age 16 Miss Scooter, age 15 Miss Taterhead, age 15 Dr. Sheldon Cooper, age 5 Mr. George Michael, age 2 Mr. Jimmy Buffett, age ten months Miss Freedom Blue, a.k.a.: “Lulu”, age ten months

All of or kitties are rescues. :-) In October of 2002, Ms. After the momma kitty gave birth and the kittens were old enough, they were put up for adoption. That is how we came to find Cooper. Mr. George Michael was found out in a field, he was taken in by a local rescue group. I found him on Petfinder.com in April of 2018. George is named after my favorite singer: “THE” original George Michael (born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou; 25 June 1963 – 25 December 2016) was an English singer, songwriter, record producer, and philanthropist who rose to fame as a member of the music duo Wham! and later embarked on a solo career. He was widely known for his work in the 1980s and 1990s, including hit Wham! singles such as "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Last Christmas" and solo albums such as Faith (1987) and Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (1990). Jimmy Buffett and Lulu are brother and sister. I was at PetSmart and a lady there was showing photos of kittens that she was trying to find homes for....next thing I know....we have TWO kittens! We got them at about eight weeks old. They love each other sooooo much! I am so glad that we decided to get them both. They love to play, wrestle, and sleep together. I came up with the name "Queen City Kitties" from a longer version of a description of my life. Here's the short story: I grew up out in the country, down a dead-end dirt road, in a rural area of north Alabama.....moved to a big city in the Spring of 1988. Currently, we have seven beautiful kitties....they are my "babies"....since, I do not have any real children of my own (although I do have two wonderful step-sons) my kitties are my babies ! Both my Grandma and Grannie loved to sew. My mother did quite a bit of sewing too. I began to sew when I was about ten years old. .... so, I have been sewing for a long time. My Grandma taught me how to make a dress for my doll.....but, basically, I am self taught. I love to create things. Fabric is a wonderful thing!
