📢 Calling All Animal Lovers: We Need Fosters! 🐾

The holiday season is behind us, and we're ready to get back to what we do best: saving lives! But we can't do it alone. Our ability to rescue animals depends on YOU — our amazing community of supporters.

Over the past couple of months, we've slowed down intakes due to the busy holiday season. Now, the shelters are overcrowded, and so many dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens need our help. But without foster homes, we simply can't bring them to safety!

Why Fostering Saves Lives:
🐶 A Lifeline: When you foster, you provide a safe place for animals that would otherwise face euthanasia or prolonged shelter stays.
🐱 Healing Starts at Home: Animals who are scared, injured, or sick thrive in foster homes where they can heal and feel loved.
👩‍👧‍👦 Families Matter: Fostering prepares animals for adoption by teaching them how to live in a home, making them more adoptable.
💞 One More Saved: Every animal you foster opens up space for us to rescue another one.

How You Can Help:
🐾 Open your home temporarily to an animal in need.
🐾 Provide love, care, and patience as they adjust.
🐾 Help us with basic needs like food, bedding, and transport (we’ll provide supplies too!).
🐾 Watch them blossom as they get ready for their forever home.

If you've ever considered fostering, now is the time! It’s a rewarding experience knowing YOU are the reason a life was saved. Interested? Visit www.pprct.org to fill out a foster application, or email [email protected] to learn more about our foster program!

Together, we can make a difference. Let’s save lives, one foster home at a time. 🐕🐾❤️

**Adopt Gizmo!**

Gizmo is ready to find his perfect match! He's a 1-year-old, 9 lb Chihuahua mix with a big personality packed into a tiny frame! Gizmo is a playful, cuddly, and affectionate little guy looking for his forever home. He’s happiest when playing with other dogs or snuggling up with his people. If you’re lucky, you might even get one of his signature kisses!

Here’s what makes Gizmo so special:
- **Dog-Friendly:** Gizmo loves canine companions and would thrive in a home with another playful dog to match his energy.
- **Cuddle Bug Extraordinaire:** When he’s not playing, Gizmo loves to curl up with you for some serious snuggle time.
- **Quick to Warm Up:** He’s friendly with strangers and loves making new human friends (except at the vet 🤣).
- **Leash & Travel Ready:** Gizmo walks well on a leash and is a great car companion.
- **Crate Trained:** He does well in a puppy pen when his foster family is out and about.

**Things to Know About Gizmo:**
- Gizmo can be a little sassy when it comes to putting on a collar, clothes, or being wrapped in a blanket, so patience and positive reinforcement will be key.
- He’s doing well with potty training but still needs a bit of consistency to master it.
- We recommend a teen/adult-only home as he may not be the best fit for younger kids.
- Cats are currently an unknown factor in his world.

If you’re ready to welcome Gizmo into your life and provide him with the loving home he deserves, apply to adopt at www.pprct.org!

✨ Happy New Year from Project Precious Rescue! ✨

As we close the chapter on this year, we reflect on the ups and downs that came with it. While we faced challenges—rescues were fewer than usual due to financial strain—our hearts never wavered in our mission to save lives. Every life saved was met with love, care, and hope for a brighter future.

To our incredible donors, supporters, fosters and adopters: you are the backbone of this rescue. Your generosity, selflessness and encouragement mean the world to us, and you inspire us to keep going, even in the tough times.

As we look ahead to the new year, we are filled with hope for a fresh start. Our dream is to make an even bigger impact—saving more lives, creating more happy tails, and finding loving forever homes for the animals who need us most. Together, we can make it happen.

Here’s to 2025: a year of resilience, love, and second chances. Thank you for being part of our family. 💕

With gratitude,
The Project Precious Rescue Team

SIR PADDINGTON BEAR UPDATE!!!

Our sweet Yorkie puppy has been recovering well from his surgery, and using his remaining 3 legs as if he's always been a cute little tripod!

A couple days after his surgery, Bear had a bit of a setback where he became lethargic, stopped eating and needed to be hospitalized for 24 hours to address his spiked kidney values. His bile acids test came back negative which unfortunately rules out a shunt, but thankfully he bounced back pretty well after hospitalization (which cost us an additional $1700 on top of the $5,000 already spent on his surgery).

Since leaving the hospital, we have had to re-test Bear's kidney values twice a week to see if they are trending in a better direction. Thankfully, they are decreasing little by little - unfortunately they are still quite high for a puppy, and we are still looking at the potential diagnosis of renal dysplasia. We have started him on prescription food that will support his kidneys.

On Thursday, Bear will have an official consultation with an Internal Medicine specialist and likely a full abdominal ultrasound to help us determine the best way to move forward in caring for him. This appointment will estimated cost us another $700-800 at minimum. We are hopeful that this will give us some more answers and education regarding Bear's ongoing health issues.

We committed to Bear when we simply thought all he needed was a fracture repair, and now we are almost $8,000 in on a case that we absolutely did not anticipate becoming what it has. But, we will stand firm in our promise to Bear that he will receive the best medical care possible and give the best quality of life.

Through it all, Bear's foster family has been amazing caring for him and they have pledged to see him through all of this no matter how long it takes! We are so grateful for their love and dedication.

Please consider donating toward Bear's ongoing unexpected and very extensive medical costs - we can't give him the very best without your help! He deserves to live a happy life and we intend to give that to him, no matter the time frame.

Magda is still looking for her perfect forever home 🏡

She is a very sweet pup who was saved from a local shelter by someone who then had unexpected life changes, and was unable to continue to care for her. Magda is very friendly with other dogs, and went to doggy daycare where she loved playing! She also lived with multiple cats and enjoyed their company. She is house trained. Magda is very social, loves being with her people and is even very trusting of strangers.

Although she loves to cuddle, she is no couch potato – she loves to walk, run, and play with her toys. Magda would make an excellent hiking partner for someone who wants an outdoor buddy to take on social gatherings. She' s working on her basic manners, and although she is very friendly she needs a little more training before she can be with small children or elderly people because she will sometimes jump up for attention - she just loves everyone so much she can't contain her excitement! So far, Magda knows "sit" and comes when called.

Magda is about 1-2 years old, and around 50lbs.

Please visit our website www.pprct.org and fill out an application you think this social girl would be a good fit for your family!

PPR alum Maple here to remind you that it’s VERY cold outside (18° currently) so please keep your pets inside except for potty breaks. When they are going out, if they allow, dress them in a jacket/booties and then be sure to wipe their paws when they come inside so they don’t end up with frozen snow or ice between their paw pads ❄️🐾🥶

SIR PADDINGTON BEAR UPDATE!!

Our sweet little Bear was discharged from the hospital today, and his foster mom says he's getting around great! He was so used to using only 3 legs that he has acclimated really quickly! He's comfortable, happy and we couldn't ask for more just one day post-op! On Monday we need to re-test his kidney values, and hopefully we will have results from his previous testing for the liver shunt. Paws crossed for a positive report!

A special thank you to the amazing Dr. Baron, surgeon at ASC in Yonkers and her team who worked with us last minute to make sure they could perform Bear's surgery ASAP.

Another big thanks to Bear's foster moms for opening up their home to this special little guy without hesitation! And thank you to our transport driver Tana who helped get Bear home from the hospital!

More updates on Sir Paddington Bear to come... ❤️

We are so grateful to everyone for sharing his story and donating!

SIR PADDINGTON BEAR UPDATE!!!

Upon admitting Bear to the hospital, the Surgeon ran blood work and we were surprised to find that unfortunately his kidney values were high and concerning enough that the Surgeon decided an ultrasound was necessary.

The Internal Medicine Specialist let us know that Bear's kidneys look abnormal and that further testing is necessary. It is suspected that Bear either has a liver shunt or renal dysplasia. A liver shunt can be diagnosed by an additional blood test which we decided to perform and will have results next week. It can be fixed with surgery and dogs can live a normal life expectancy with medical management. Renal dysplasia however does not have a good prognosis. It can significantly effect the duration of Bear's life span.

This is not the news we expected to receive when we sent a seemingly happy, healthy pup for surgery. Because of this, the surgical plan had to change. The Surgeon's concern was that kidney issues affect bone growth/density and that there was a risk of the surgery failing, and, even that this fracture could have been caused by the underlying problem. Once she began the procedure, it was also determined that the fracture happened a while ago, and that the repair was not possible due to severe muscle contraction. So, at her recommendation we proceeded with amputation.

Bear came through surgery and is recovering well. We don't know what his future holds, but we do know that his medical journey is far from over. There is more testing to be done, more money to be spent - especially if Bear has a liver shunt. But, we are in this for the long haul. We committed to this puppy, and we will see him to the best outcome possible, even if all that means he spends what days he has left knowing nothing but love.

We are hoping for the best news possible, but we need your support and healing thoughts for our sweet Sir Paddington Bear. Thank you to all who have donated and shared thus far - you are all amazing! ❤️

**🐾 Urgent - Please Help Sir Paddington Bear!!! 🐾**

This sweet 4-month-old Yorkie puppy came to us from our local shelter with a heartbreaking story. Found wandering the streets alone and in pain, his tiny leg was broken—how it happened, we’ll never know.

When we heard his story, we immediately agreed to help. Within 24 hours, we secured an amazing surgeon to repair the fracture and give him the best possible chance at a normal, happy life. Amputation would have been a much less costly option, but Bear deserves the best care we can provide.

Today, Bear is undergoing his surgery, which is estimated to cost $5,000–$6,000. The bill is due upon pickup on Saturday, and we need your help to cover this huge expense. We took a leap of faith, trusting in our incredible supporters to help us give Bear the life he deserves.

🙏 Please consider donating to Bear’s medical fund. Every dollar makes a difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing his story is just as impactful. Together, we can give Bear a bright 4-legged future!
