MINDFULNESS WHEN DOG WALKING

*WINTER EDITION*

1. Protect Paws

Snow and ice can hurt your dog’s paws! Use paw balm or booties to prevent cracks and irritation.

2. Keep Them Warm

Short-haired or smaller dogs may need a coat to stay warm during walks. Avoid staying out too long in freezing temps.

3. Wipe Down After Walks

Snow can hide salt and chemicals that irritate paws and skin. Rinse and dry your dog’s paws after every walk.

4. Watch for Frostbite

Check ears, paws, and tails for signs of frostbite, like pale or grayish skin. If you notice anything unusual, head to the vet!

5. Limit Outdoor Time

Even playful pups can get too cold. Take shorter walks and monitor them for shivering or lifting their paws off the ground.
