I'm sorry I haven't been in touch with you all. I do want to let you know that Nova had one large beautiful stillborn male kitten on January 31st. It was very sad. I think he was just in the birth canal too long. She mourned him for almost 3 weeks, but is now doing just fine. We won't breed her again until maybe fall. I do think we are expecting kittens from Annie and maybe Mazie and Ruby. I will know more in another week or so. Please stay tuned for more information.

In the meantime, we wish you good health and good weather!! All the best, Carol & Tom

Good morning and Happy New Year everyone!!

I do have news today which I have waited a bit to post to make sure that I was correct. Nova had a " one night stand " with Beamer and is expecting!! She should deliver at the end of the month!!

Also, Mazie has been bred by Beamer and and we will know in a couple of weeks if she is expecting!! She will be due to deliver at the end of February!!

So the new year is bringing us little furry babies to love and raise. When they arrive I will make a birth announcement!!

Take care and thank you all for your patience!! More to come in a few weeks!!

My best always,
Carol

Hi Everyone,
Well, this has been a non-productive year I am sorry to say. Beamer did try to breed a couple of girls back in June, but never got anyone pregnant. Since then, the girls have been on strike and not cycling. I think it was too hot here this summer and they are not used to that. We hope and pray that cooler weather will bring them in, and we might get a litter of kittens, but time will tell. Meantime they are all happy and doing well.
We are still showing some and the girls have done us proud I am happy to say. I wish we could show more, but at this stage of the game we are lucky we can get out and show at all. We do our own grooming and bathing and we take up to 3 cats to a show. Not bad for someone just a couple years shy of 80. We have cut our numbers and only have a total of 6 cats currently and we hope to have only one litter at a time and just a few more litters before we retire from breeding --- maybe 4. Maine C***s have been my passion for so long that it is hard to let go so I am weaning myself down! LOL!! I have been fortunate to have a husband who has supported me all the way with this hobby and has joined me in several of my escapades. We both worked with our clubs early on to put on shows and worked hard with Maine C***s to get them better recognized in the fancy. We lobbied along with others to make the Maine C**n the State Cat for the great State of Maine and thankfully that came to be we are proud to say!
We are grateful to all of our wonderful clients who love our babies and continue to share photos of them with us and keep us informed of their wellbeing. Hopefully we will be able to provide a few more litters of beautiful, healthy babies for people to enjoy and love. I will try to do better about posting (we've had a very busy summer even without babies) and I will definitely post when we are expecting babies!! Have a beautiful, safe and happy fall everyone!!

We are waiting one more week to check Anastasia to see if "hopefully" she got bred by Beamer and is pregnant. If not I guess we will have to try another male from a friend. Also, Nova was just in season again, but not so sure he was able to actually breed her---- only time will tell. We are very hopeful that we will get some kittens, but there are times when it just doesn't happen. We have on rare occasion had this happen. We usually get about 4 litters a year, but not always. I know some of you are anxious to see babies as well as we are. Believe me, we are trying, and our girls have been cooperative, but we are working with a novice male who just can't seem to hit the target. Hopefully he has managed to do so now----- but it is a waiting game for all of us. It's going to take patience for all of us I guess!! Thank you all for sticking with us!!

I realize that it's been too long since I posted. I was hoping to make an expected litter announcement, or birth announcement, but so far no luck. Beamer is young and inexperienced, but he has been trying with the girls. We don't know if he doesn't hit the target or if there's a different problem, but I have another plan to get at least one or two girls bred ------ but they need to come back in season first!! LOL!! We miss having babies! Our last litter was last fall. I am hoping that I will have good news soon.

Introduction to Le Beau Minu Maine C***s

We are Carol and Tom Pedley and we have been showing and raising Maine C**n cats for 48 years now, having started our cattery in 1971. We show primarily in TICA (The International Cat Assoc.) and in CFF ( The Cat Fanciers Federation). We have bred many Supreme Grand Champions and Master Grand Champions over the years. We strive for good health, lovely type and excellent purr-sonalities in our kittens. Tom is the best spoiler of cats and kittens and I keep up the paperwork and chores involved with keeping a clean home and cattery. Tom helps me with bathing when needed and he also can be an awesome midwife when it comes to birthing kittens if I happen to be away at a show or working.

Our cattery is FELV and FIV negative and we have our cats hearts screened for HCM as well as we work with cats that are DNA negative for the one gene that science knows can cause heart issues. We know that the screening is not a 100% guarantee, but it gives us the knowledge to not use a cat that has a problem early on in our breeding program. Our kittens are home raised under foot, born in our bedroom and raised with love. They receive two 3-way vaccinations, are wormed (on general principle) and are vet checked before they leave our home.

We currently work with solid and tabby colors to include brown, red, black, silver, smoke and they can be with or without white. We also occasionally get dilutes (blue/cream).

We welcome inquiries, but prefer people contact me through my email which is: [email protected] ------ Please also keep an eye on our Le Beau Minu page for up-coming litters and photos.
