Ever wonder what we're after when we perform an OPU for an IVF flush? The first picture is a perfect example. This is a grade A COC (cumulus oocyte complex). Look close you'll see the egg hiding in the cumulus cells. The second picture shows some grade C COC's. These only have a couple layers of cumulus cells surrounding them. This shows you what's hiding in the first picture.

Today was one for the MultiGen record books. We aspirated cows for IVF embryo production. Here are the results:

15 cows = 720 oocytes
Average = 48 oocytes/cow
FSH = 0

The top donor was an 11 month old Angus heifer that produced 322 viable oocytes with no FSH! The picture shows 200+ oocytes after the first search.

Interested in IVF from a local company with personalized customer service and individualized donor care? Give us a call. Booking OPU's each week throughout the spring breeding season.

Did you know embryos hatch? We caught this IVF embryo in the process of hatching earlier this week. The embryo is covered by a capsule called the zona pellucida. It hatches from the zona around day 8 of gestation. Isn’t God’s creation amazing!
