Meet one week old orphan piglet Jasper.
When a piglet comes our house turns into many blankets,towels,heat pads, p*e pads, pillows and everything important for happy piglet care.
Bottle feeding every 2 hours all day and night has me sleeping close to the piglet to meet his needs.

Volunteering is one of the most beautiful tasks, and when it comes to helping in the sanctuary, the days become days full of happiness and peace.

It might seem that scooping is a complicated task; but it can become something gratifying by doing it from the heart and with all the intention of helping.

This is a beautiful memory of Marvin when he arrived at the sanctuary, so small and full of energy.   
Now Marvin is enormous and very happy next to his best friends.   

If you come to the sanctuary, you will always see him next to Stella, another beautiful little pig of the same age. They are best friends!

Let me introduce you to one of the sweetest and cheerful little pigs.

I call him "Cachetes," which in Spanish means "big cheeks."

Along with his three brothers, he came to the sanctuary after being used in laboratories for experimentation of dermatological products. That's why you can see holes in his ears.

Anyway, he now lives very happily with all his adoptive family. He enjoys belly rubs and playing in the mud.

This was the first experience of having a watermelon for the 5 pigs recently here from being used for medical research in a lab. They did not know what to do with the watermelon. They would lick it but not put it in their mouth to eat it. We then gave a watermelon to the pigs that are next to them in the larger sounder and once they watched those pigs eat, they went over and started to eat the watermelon they were given. Typical Very smart pigs. They learn by watching!

Big Tony welcomes the boys newly freed from lab

Big Tony is a senior pig needing special care. He has the freedom of the many acres yard. This morning he walked over and saw the new pigs in their first morning here!

Freedom from life as a lab pig!

Yesterday we welcomed 5 pigs rescued from a lab. These 4 bonded boys are excited to experience a new life. Halfway through the video you will see them “freeze” when they hear a motorcycle for the first time in the distance.

A happy day to be alive and have friends! Plus the happy dance because a picnic is planned

Not long after piglet Stella arrived we learned of a young mini pig who was orphaned at 3 weeks of age. This is the first meeting of Stanley and Stella. He is one month older and we be a typical 150lbs mini pig at full growth in 3 years. Stella will mature into a VERY LARGE girl. This is a special time to be friends learning sanctuary life together. Welcome Stanley!

8 year old Maggie has always been the best girl to welcome piglets to sanctuary life. Piglet Stella was orphaned at 2 weeks of age and she is excited to see and be with pigs!! We start slowly with piglet introductions. Maggie is in the TLC pig area. It’s a total of 35 pigs, most very senior. Some with disabilities. Stella is supervised always when outside and will be for a long time.

Leala and Daisy May are 2 middle age girls who met here and have become friends. Their mid afternoon nap was interrupted by me when I was bed checking the barns. When I first walked in I couldn’t see anything but hay.
