Benny wants you to put the word out that the ranch is looking for barn help. We are looking for a part-time worker to help with barn chores.
The qualified candidate must love the outdoors, even when it's 90 degrees during the summer and -20 below in the winter. They will need to know how to operate a manure fork, it can be tricky. Lift 50-pounds bags of grain, along with 50-pound bales of hay. They must love scrubbing water tanks and wrestling the crazy hoses. Fill hay bags (they don't fill themselves) and feed grain to the horses. Along with the horses, the ranch has a few small animals that need TLC as well (did I mention that Pixie the goat sometimes head-butts people?). The ideal person should be able to multi-task, be a critical thinker (animal's lives are in our hands), and love p**p (cuz there's lots of it). Is it an easy job, kinda, kinda not. Is it a great paying job, well let's just say it's not a banker's salary. BUT... it is a rewarding job!!!! All the love the animals give makes it all worth doing the job. We've had several calls about sleigh rides. We decided to improvise and come up with a different plan since there's no snow in the forecast. With permission from Canadian Lakes, we are offering Christmas Wagon rides to the Castle to watch their light show for this holiday season. There is limited spots available, so call the ranch to make a reservation. (231-972-7255).

We have been keeping a fun secret. This year we tried planting our first pumpkin patch. We are so excited to share we had success and they are just starting to turn orange and ready for picking. Whose ready to take a wagon ride with Team Oreo out to the pumpkin patch to pick out their Halloween pumpkin? We will be posting in the next few days the event, with dates, times, and details.

We are excited to announce that registration is officially open for the June - Mitten Madness Mounted Archery competition hosted by Bethany Flick of the Michigan Centaurs and ran by Elizabeth Tinnan. We are so excited that these two wondefully talented mounted archers chose our facility to host this competition. In addition, Elizabeth Tinnan has agreed to hold a clinic the weekend before the competition, here at the ranch. If you missed out on last years clinic with Elizabeth, here's your chance to attend. If you attended last year clinic, here's an opportunity to up your game. Also Holly Reagan has been holding regular archery practices and beginner archery lessons at the ranch. I know we've been quiet here on Facebook the last few months. We have been super busy with upgrades to the Bed and Breakfast over the last year. Here are a few sneak peaks of some of the rooms. We still have the lower level family room to finish which will be happening in the next few months but we are excited for everyone to see our progress. We will also be upgrading our website over the next month. Keep a lookout for winter sleighride packages.

Day 2 with Elizabeth Tinnan MountedArcher clinic. The clinic was called "Intro to Mounted Archery with Elizabeth Tinnan" however, the attendees of this clinic ranged from beginners to advanced archers and varied in ages. Everyone gained new knowledge over the weekend and had fun making new friends and memories.

Have you ever wanted to try Mounted Archery but thought it wasn't something you or your horse could do? Have you seen some of the Mounted Archery pictures at the ranch and thought how cool would that be to do? Back in October at our last Archery event, this young girl had never picked up a bow an arrow before. On Friday she learned to shoot on the ground, on Saturday she was led through the course with a spotter leading her horse and on sunday was able to walk the course by herself with a spotter walking by her side. Our Tacos and Targets in June is the perfect opportunity for newbies to give it a try. We have the equipment for you to use and spotters to help you on the course. We can even provide the horse. We are so grateful for the help we had today. Thank you so much to everyone that took time out of their day to help us. Our hay will stay dry and keep the horses happy.

We don't normally ask this but we are in need of help. Yesterday the wind was coming from the south which usually doesn't happen here. It was so strong it picked up our front three hoops from our hoop barn and blew over the top off the whole barn. It broke in half pieces of lumber that secured it. We just need some help with getting the tarp back over the top. It's gonna take about 8 people, not a hard or long job. It just can't be done by 2 people. If you don't have anything going today around 3:00 we could really use some help. We'll have a cooler with water, pops and snacks for anyone that can help. Thank you!!!
