Had to go for a walk to enjoy this glorious Sunday afternoon. It’s 51 degrees and sunny, and the mares are enjoying eating in the bottom area out of the slight breeze. Hard to believe it is going to be 18 degrees a week from now! Ranch

Our ducks have been found at the smaller barn pond. They are more protected there with fencing, have full access to the barn for bad weather, and get to eat spilled horse feed everyday.

J3 Ranch was the site for a themed “And They're Off” senior party yesterday for Cobi Lan Cannon, a former horseback riding student of Mom’s (Beverly Jones). As you can see, they did a fabulous job with their Kentucky Derby theme! The weather wasn’t great, but they had fun. We even rolled out Mom’s carriage for photos. Cobi is a senior at Starkville Academy and will graduate in May 2025. Congratulations seniors!

The mares all came to see if I had treats for them, but I did not. I was just watering the trees at the front gate. Needless to say, they were disappointed!

The mares were enjoying the tall grass in the pasture near the front gate. Simply a gorgeous day!

We had an unexpected visit of 11 polo ponies on Friday night! Around 9 p.m., we got a call from Lucho's wife asking if we had room to stable 11 horses overnight, and we said YES. Lucho had been given the wrong address and found himself in Starkville rather than Jackson where they had reserved stalls, and we were glad we could accommodate him and his horses. He had driven from Tulsa, all that day, and the horses were glad to get off the trailer. Three horses went into stalls, and the other eight spent the night in the large riding arena. Needless to say, the horses enjoyed roaming around and eating the tall grass on the sides of the arena. By the time we got Rusty moved out of the arena and into his stall and Lucho's horses turned out in the arena, it was after 11:30 p.m. Lucho spent the night at the house, and we enjoyed learning about polo and his home country of Argentina. He left early the following morning on his way to Ocala, FL, his final destination. It was an unexpected visit, but one we thoroughly enjoyed. We always have fun meeting new people and helping them and their horses out however we can. Good luck Lucho in this year's polo season.

Some great photos of the mares enjoying the pasture and two fantastic sunsets from last night and tonight.
