My name is Jocelyn Schalk and I have two super cute kitties named Chip and Binx! I was born in Florida but grew up in Charleston, South Carolina. I graduated from Mississippi State University back in December and just applied to vet school so fingers crossed for me! I became a vet tech because I have an absolute passion caring for all animals and gaining valuable experiences throughout my time working! Fun fact about me is I love going to concerts!

My name is Lizzie Rabun, and I am from LaGrange, Georgia. I have two sweet kitties, Fritz and Betty! I am currently an Animal and Dairy Sciences Major at Mississippi State and will be graduating in December. I also recently applied to veterinary school (wish us luck!) For the past year I have loved taking care of all of your furry family members as a kennel tech, but what I have loved even more is seeing you all every day as a vet assistant!

⭐️HAPPY NATIONAL VET TECH WEEK!⭐️ Today, we want to give a special shout out to our tech externs from Mississippi State’s College of Veterinary Medicine. If you’ve visited in the past couple of weeks, you may have met Mary Slay or Raven. They are finishing up their clinical rotations through the Tech Program, and we know they will make the best technicians! We’ve had the best time with them!

Hello my name is Mary Slay McDaniel and I am from Greenwood, MS. I am currently a senior in the Veterinary Medical Technology program at MSU. I have such a love and passion for animals and their health. I am so excited to spend some time with Starkville Veterinary Hospital and expand my knowledge!

Hi! I’m Raven Nichols, a current senior at MSU perusing my Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medical Technology! I am from Kosciusko, Ms, and I have always had so much love for animals of all kinds! My name is Jillian Rhian, and I am from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I have a cat named Beetle and a dog named Hank, both of whom I love to death! I graduated from Mississippi State this past May, and I recently applied to veterinary school. In the meantime, I am working as a veterinary assistant to develop my skills and confidence in preparation for the next four years of vet school! Fun fact, I played soccer at Ole Miss before transferring to Mississippi State University!

Hi, I’m Hailey Gallagher & this is Shadow! I adopted Shadow before starting my first kennel technician job at the shelter. Working in shelter medicine helped me follow my new found passion to becoming a veterinary technician. I am from San Antonio, Texas where I practiced GP medicine for a year, and moved into ER medicine for another year. I just moved to MS to explore something new. I am currently working on my Bachelors in Biological Sciences for Pre-Veterinary Medicine to follow my passion of becoming a DVM in the future.
Fun fact! I have read 38 books this year so far... and I am actively working on 3 books. My favorite series right now is ACOTAR and Fourth Wing. To my fellow book worms, who is ready for Onyx Storm?

🌟SUCCESS STORY🌟

Meet Riley, a 4 month old husky mix! Riley’s dad brought Riley in right after he got into a dangerous toxin that you probably have in your own house - a bottle of ibuprofen. Our team acted fast to start treatment right away on him. After a weekend in the hospital and many treatments, Riley’s bloodwork thankfully showed he was likely going to be just fine. We are all so glad!

It’s happy healthy cat month! Here are a few of our recent patients getting their check ups! Keep reading for a break down of what we offer at our cat annuals!

Cat annuals include:
- Comprehensive exam - Remember, a good physical exam is the first line of defense in catching disease!
- Rabies vaccine
- FVRCP/FeLeuk vaccine
- Intranasal Bordetella vaccine
- Profender

Monthly prevention is important in cats too! We recommend Nexgard Combo which prevents heartworms, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites!

These suits provide benefits such as reducing your animal’s stress and anxiety, better access for eating and drinking, and still prevents them from reaching the surgery site!
