LAKEN HOPE RILEY ❤️ “When I grow up I want to be a nurse because it helps people get better and it looks very fun to help people.” – Laken Hope Riley, My Dream, 1st grade
Laken was a daughter, a sister and a friend. Her dream from a very early age was to be a nurse and help others. Laken loved her family, her sister, running, Diet Coke and sweet treats. Laken had a passion for sharing her faith through acts of kindness. She shared her love for Jesus with everyone she met. Laken’s life was tragically cut short on February 22, 2024.
When Laken’s family first contacted me about a painting I was honored and immediately heart broken. This was the first time a commission request brought me to tears. This painting would be a gift to Laken’s parents. It was an honor to work with Laken’s cousin, Katie, who loved my “Nightingale” painting from years prior. We combined imagery from my “Nightingale” painting with photos of Laken, her favorite Bible verses and her favorite things.
Today, January 10, 2025, would have been Laken’s 23rd birthday. With her family’s blessing I am sharing photos of her painting and story. Laken’s life has inspired me and many others across the world. Laken’s dream was to help others. Through heartbreak, Laken continues to help others and be a light.
My thoughts and prayers are with Laken’s friends, family, parents and sister today. Happy Heavenly Birthday Laken.
