PIKUNI DRUMS

PIKUNI DRUMS PIKUNI DRUMS a small business providing custom powwow drums & hand drums for amateurs & professionals

let me tell you a little about myself and my story
I am 19 years old. I am a member of the blackfeet tribe also known as the amskapi pikuni I was born and raised on the blackfeet reservation in browning montana. I was taught how to make a hand drum in 7th grade and started to powwow sing about 5 years ago (even though I have been around it all my life. I made my first hand scraped powwow drum (my

grandpa made the frame) 2years later. a year after that in 2012 I had a bad deal with another drum maker the drum tore that I Paid top dollar for and he refused to fix it I Pesonally thought I could make a better drum, I since then taught my self how to make contemporary drum frames and also how to do the hide work. although I come from a Lineage of drum makers including my grandfather thomas LameBear, my great grandfather thomas LameBear Sr. and his father my great great grandfather LameBear himself, everything I do is self taught from skinning the hide off the animal to scraping it and turning it into raw hide, the drum making stopped at my Father and it was up to me to keep it alive!. this new business is called PIKUNI DRUMS providing custom powwow drums and hand drums for contemporary and old style drum groups! And for the new upcoming singers or anyone looking to have a nice decoration of meaning from the blackfeet tribe.
