Who's in agreement with Chops' assessment of today's weather?? 🙋

We also think that Chops is showing off how his tongue looks like a heart -- and that matches his friendly personality!

He is very curious and loves to explore his surroundings. Chops keeps himself busy watching the other cats in his room or playing with toys; it's funny to watch him kick toys around with his back feet!

From scared and terrified to loving people -- check out the wonderful transformation of Trooper in his :

"When we first got Trooper in May, he was terrified of everyone and everything. He would hide and only come out to go to the bathroom. It took around 2-3 weeks just for us to be able to pet him. Every little movement and sound would scare him.

Fast forward 6 months, and he LOVES people and is the most cuddly cat ever!

Trooper wants to be right by your side at all times and loves to lay on his people’s laps (and their necks, he doesn’t understand personal space now). He is still very nervous with strangers, but eventually comes around with lots of time and patience.

I love seeing Trooper act like a cat and not a scared orange ball like he used to be."

Ramen had fun combining with getting ready for the holidays!

If you haven't gotten to know Ramen yet, he's a sweet young boy who loves absolutely everyone he meets. Ramen is also comfortable with children aged 5 and older and some other pups.

Have you been thinking about fostering a cat or dog from PAWS? Consider doing a test-run as a temporary foster when PAWS is closed for the holiday season.

When we are closed from Dec. 23.–Jan. 3, we like to get as many animals as possible into homes. It's a great holiday experience for the cats and dogs, and it helps to have fewer animals at PAWS to lighten the load for the volunteers caring for any animals at the shelter.

PAWS will give you all the supplies you will need; you just need to provide lots of love -- and Thor says that you won't regret it!

At the end of November's PAWS Reading Program, the kids made cards for when their favorite cats find their forever homes. As you can see, Thyme was a favorite of the group!

Her previous foster let us know that, "Thyme sits beside me and purrs loudly, without a care in the world.

She is a clean and gentle cat who likes to sleep and, when she is awake, chat. A benefit of an older animal [Thyme is 16 years young] is they spend lots of time sleeping; although when awake, they are affectionate and purr when pet."

Today is the day! University Baptist & Brethren Church will hold their 42nd Alternative Christmas Fair today (Sunday) from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Once again, PAWS is so grateful to be included!

What is the Alternative Christmas Fair? You have an alternative to buying gifts for others. At the Alternative Christmas Fair, you can donate to local charities (such as PAWS!) in the name of your friends and family.

This adorable face belongs to S'mores, one of our older kittens.

He arrived with his brother Reece who was adopted, and S'mores hopes to follow in Reece's footsteps!

S'mores would love to be adopted with another kitten friend so he always has someone to play with and snuggle with, since most cats are social and enjoy the company of other cats.

S'mores is still learning to trust humans and would love for you to bring patience and a calm voice when you meet him.

Salami recently spent some time in foster, earning himself the coveted position this week! His foster family had this to say about him:
“Salami is the sweetest pup! Just wants to be our shadow, he will follow me around but also seeks out Bill, wanting to sit on his lap. He just wants to curl up with people and have his belly rubbed and snooze. Overall, he is delightful!”

A that started in 2004!

"In 2004, we adopted a cat named Callie from PAWS. She was the cutest kitten we'd ever seen, and she is still with us 20+ years later!

She has been a wonderful cat and is very intelligent and affectionate. Our whole family adores her, and our kids don't remember life without her. She's gone through several moves and has persevered through it all.

She's doing remarkably well for her age. She has a little arthritis and some kidney issues, but is still bright-eyed and enjoys life.

Thank you for your service to the community. You bring a lot of joy to people and pets!"

PAWS Howl-oween! 🎃👻 Join us for our spooktacular Halloween Dog Show this Saturday, 10/26, from 12-2 PM at PAWS! See your favorite furry friends dressed up in their cutest costumes. Also, now until November 3rd, all adoption fees are waived for dogs aged 6 months and older, which makes it a perfect time to meet and adopt your new best friend! P.S. - Dogs participating in this showing are subject to change, so feel free to call before visiting to ensure the pup you're interested in is still hanging out.

Jasper at the Biscuit Factory

Jasper working overtime at the biscuit factory! This friendly and curious guy is looking for an adult-only home, where he can keep making dozens upon dozens of biscuits. After staying with a foster family, they let us know that he did well and is a great cat with a number of special quirks. Jasper likes pets but in limited amounts. Head pets are almost always preferable to full body pets. He is reliable with the litter box and trainable with food because he loves treats and food so much! He was in foster with large, loud dogs in the house; and while they were not allowed to interact with him, he was completely non-plussed by their presence. Come visit this sweetheart during PAWS' open hours!

Gibbous Update!

Remember the story of Gibbous from about a month ago -- he has been recovering from significant trauma to his neck; we believe he was picked up by a dog and shaken. Look at him now -- you would never know he could barely walk a few weeks ago! He loves playing with his feline friends (he to the right in this video), and it has really improved his mobility. He loves finding new places to hide and explore (his newest spot is under pillows). He is still a little unsure about his human friends; but after a minute or two of pets, he turns into a purr monster. Stay tuned for more updates on Gibbous as he continues to heal and gets ready to be available for adoption.

Playtime with Cookies

While the PAWS cat wing is currently closed to the public, you can still meet our wonderful cats, such as Cookies, and apply to adopt them online (more info in the comments)! Cookies has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus); but as you can see, she is playful and currently healthy. Plus, she can live a fulfilling and happy life like any other cat. This gorgeous gal loves to visit her outdoor catio where she can be found basking in the sun during warm days. She purrs a lot and seems to like being pet on her head.
