Before Sequoia headed off to her forever home (yes, she was adopted after spending 945 days at PAWS!), she modeled the cat bed caves that we are in need of.

These specific beds (https://a.co/d/5hTxVVe) are our favorites for the cats because they can hide, but they’re still easy for us to put in the washing machine and dryer to keep them clean.

Sequoia hopes that you consider purchasing one as a going away gift for her -- not for her to take home but to leave for her cat friends!

🌈Remembering Hector (and get the tissues ready)🌈

"I wanted to send an appreciation/happy tail about my cat Hector, who passed away from a sudden and aggressive cancer recently.

I adopted Hector (called Goldfish at PAWS) in September 2015. When I came to PAWS to meet him for the first time, I told the volunteers whom I was there to see, and they all said "Goldfish!" in delighted unison.

His foster mother was so kind and patient with me and had so many wonderful things to say about Hector. It's always made me happy to know that he was in such loving hands at the shelter, even though he'd gone through so much beforehand.

Hector was an unbelievably charismatic, clever, loving, inquisitive, and utterly delightful fellow. Everyone who met him liked him right away and usually went on to love him.

We became attached at the hip pretty quickly; and over the past nine plus years, we got to know each other's habits and moods with intimate precision. He was on my mind constantly and made my life better simply for being in it. His love helped me through the most difficult emotional and physical experiences of my life, and also created many of the happiest.

When I went to the emergency vet to pick him up one last time, I said his name and he whipped around in his temporary cage to look at me. It was a sort of eerie mirror of when I came to pick him up from PAWS, and he touched me through his cage to make sure I was paying due attention to him.

He will always be in my life because of how he enriched it, and the love that PAWS gave him has always been and will continue to be an important piece of that.

Thank you so much, PAWS. I hope your care continues to give many many people and animals lives like mine and Hector's."

Dipper is newer to PAWS, so we are still learning more about him. We do feel that Dipper's preference for any siblings would be teenagers and no other dogs.

Tad and Merry are clearly best friends and looking for an adopter who will welcome them both -- and doesn't mind that napping is one of their favorite hobbies!

🐱 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 (grey cat) is a low-maintenance cat who is very sweet and calm, although can be reluctant to meet people. She likes to sit somewhere high and observe her humans.
🐱 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 loves to explore new spaces and look out windows to see what is happening outside.
🐱𝐓𝐚𝐝 is an energetic lovebug who enjoys cuddling and being near people. He loves zooming around the house and generally having fun, unless he is napping.
🐱𝐓𝐚𝐝 has some special medical needs that our team would be happy to speak to you about.

Regardless of what Punxsutawney Phil said, Remi is staying bundled up as he knows more snowy and cold days are ahead.

Another way Remi likes to stay warm -- he has accumulated a large collection of teddy bear toys while at PAWS. He can be found snuggling or taking naps with his plushie friends!

We wanted to provide an update on the dogs recently rescued from a breeding operation by the Centre County Humane Officer. These adult dogs had never been given names, but we couldn’t let that stand. So, we’re thrilled to introduce you to the new royalty of PAWS – The Gods and Goddesses!

They’re slowly coming out of their shells and experiencing some of the basic joys of a normal dog's life for the very first time. Their soft beds, squeaky toys, and a roof over their heads are just the beginning.

Their journey to recovery continues, as they heal from the physical and emotional scars of their past. With the support of our dedicated staff and volunteers, they're learning what it truly means to be cherished.

Coco Bane has undergone an amazing transformation since his first day at PAWS.

When he arrived at PAWS just over 3 months ago, he had severe injuries including a broken right paw and 6 fractures to his jaw. Our Medical Team got to work and performed surgery to rewire his jaw. This surgery also meant he would need a feeding tube since eating would be extremely difficult for weeks. For a short time, he wore a modified muzzle to stabilize his jaw. The first 24 hours were touch and go.

Then, within a matter of a few days, Coco Bane shocked us all. He began demanding pets and asking to be taken out of his recovery cage. During time out, he showed an interest in eating on his own and started jumping up onto laps. He soon became a resident of our Operations Office where he fell head over heels in love with a heated blanket. He demanded to be allowed to participate in all meetings taking place in the room and even supervise surgery at times.

After about a month, Coco Bane’s feeding tube was removed. After two months, his wire was removed, and he received a complete dental. Now, he’s ready to head home and be the center of someone’s attention. He has significant office experience, so if you work from home and need an assistant, his resume is all ready to go.

We are proud of our medical team for their innovative and compassionate response in an emergency situation. We’re happy for Coco Bane and can’t wait to see him happy in his forever home. If you are interested in Coco Bane, apply on our website today!
