Clients, please be careful when accessing our parking lot today, Monday and possibly Tuesday of next week, as some paving is being revised in the staff lot behind the hospital. There will be traffic control to guide you, and you will still be able to park in the side client lot. (And take heart, we're almost finished!)

Our Lab Manager, CVT Katie, sees parasites on her microscope slides all the time. This little guy is an ear mite. Ear mites are microscopic parasites that infest the ear canals of cats and dogs. The most common symptoms of ear mites are scratching at the ears and shaking the head. Inside the ear, you may see discharge that looks like coffee grounds. We do not recommend any home remedies. If you suspect you dog or cat has ear mites, give us a call today at 814-238-5100.

It is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. Here at CAH, we see dozens of pets from rescues and shelters. We are thankful for all of those places who give so many animals a second chance at a forever home, and we salute the many volunteers who make it their mission to assist rehoming efforts in a multitude of ways. KUDOS TO YOU ALL!

We are seeking a highly motivated, positive and energetic Certified Veterinary Technician with an interest in Fear Free protocols for our 6-doctor small animal practice, which includes cats, dogs, and pocket pets. We have nearly completed a significant renovation of our hospital which has nearly doubled our workspace. We are open M-F and closed weekends.

Client satisfaction is a high priority at CAH, and we are seeking a warm and friendly CVT who enjoys interacting with clients. Our team members are flexible, compassionate and personable, possess a good work ethic and are ready to help teammates as asked. We seek a CVT with good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multitask, a professional demeanor, and the capacity to retain composure in stressful situations. Basic computer literacy is required. In addition to our practice management software, our Veterinary Technicians must be ready to learn programs that enable client communication.

Our CVTs work closely with our doctors and must be proficient in assisting with outpatient appointments, surgical procedures, anesthesia monitoring, dentistry and oral surgery, digital radiographs, inpatient hospital care, and medical record interpretation and documentation. CAH offers opportunities to assist with ultrasounds and reproductive medicine. Client education is a vital component of quality care, and we value CVTs who are skilled in helping the client understand their pet’s care needs.

To successfully apply for a position with CAH, the applicant should hold a certificate from an accredited CVT licensing program. A minimum of two years’ experience is preferred. The CVT must be able to lift patients and objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, assist team members with lifting and transporting patients and objects weighing more than 50 pounds, and be able to work energetically for a shift that could exceed 9-10 hours.
