Mansi was ready for his Date Night boarding add-on with us today! He got to watch a movie with cuddles, and enjoyed some yummy treats.

If you haven’t heard about our boarding add-ons, we have plenty of options for your dog. We offer Daily Photos, Frozen Kongs, Ball Time/Play Time, Taking a Stroll (extra walk), and Date Night.

Dog Daycare is back! From August 19th - August 30th evaluations will be free. We evaluate each individual dog in a group setting to ensure they fit in with the rest of our pack. For any customer that has been with us before for daycare you will get $5 off your first visit back during August 19th - August 30th. A full day of daycare is $30 and a half day (5 hours or less) of daycare is $27.

Beginning September 3rd S.T.A.R Puppy is back! Star puppy teaches your dog and yourself the basics to have a well mannered puppy. Even if your dog is no longer a puppy we can help. It’s only a $50 deposit to hold your spot. Spots are limited so make sure you reserve a spot!

South Paws Dog Resort has come so far from the day it opened in 2012. Lynn put her all into this place. The blood, sweat, and tears helped create the South Paws Dog Resort we all have grown to know and love. The staff, dogs, and customers have created such an amazing home from 2012-2024. South Paws Dog Resort has become a staple for pet parents around the Statesboro community. It has become a legacy that is being passed down to one of the South Paws family members. It’s someone who has worked and cared for many of the customers and dogs over the years. Her first day was in 2018. She is someone who has always viewed Lynn as not just a boss, but a mentor, a friend, and even family. Let us welcome Caitlin back to continue the legacy of South Paws Dog Resort in our Statesboro community.

2012-2024

A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into this place. I can’t say that it’s always been easy, but it has definitely been an incredible 12 years that I’ll be forever grateful for. I’m so thankful for our amazing clients over the years, all the wonderful dogs, and the loyal employees who made our success possible. I will miss the friends that we made through this business, but I hope we’ll still see you around town. I’m super excited to retire (sort of), but I’m still going to be training. So, if you want to do puppy class, rally obedience, agility, or private lessons with your dog, I’m still your gal. Just give me a shout at 912-531-2177 to inquire about scheduling.

In 2012 I took a giant leap of faith and left the teaching profession after 18 years to open my own business. What a magnificent experience it has been with so many amazing friendships forged. I can’t thank our wonderful clients and loyal employees enough for making South Paws Dog Resort a success! But after 12 years, we are ready to retire and embark on different adventures; so, we will be closing our doors on May 15. We wish all our clients the absolute best. We will truly miss you and your dogs! We will be reaching out to the number we have on file for anyone with upcoming reservations past May 15. Our next STAR puppy class is starting March 4 at 6pm! This class is not just for puppies though! Any dog who needs to work on sit, down, come, stay, leave it, off, wait, go to your spot, and loose leash walking is welcome. Cost is $150 for the six weeks, and we have a couple spots open. The final day of Atlanta didn’t disappoint with Susan and Ruckus finishing their Beginner Novice obedience title with a first place and Lori and Roxy earning their second leg of rally intermediate with a second place! Congratulations!

Team South Paws was smoking hot again today in Atlanta and Jacksonville! Lori and Roxy scored a 95 and first place in Intermediate! Susan and Ruckus qualified in both Beginner Novice (2nd leg!) and Advanced (title!), and Pat and Wheeler got another 100 and first place in agility (jumpers with weaves). Their standard run is yet to come this afternoon. And in conformation, Lynn finished a new champion Kuvasz…CH Aegys Xcessive Force RN!

Congratulations to South Paws team members on today’s successes in Atlanta and Jacksonville! In agility, Pat and Wheeler got a first place in Novice Standard with a perfect 100! In Rally, Susan and Ruckus got their second leg of Advanced, and Paula and Belle earned their first leg of Intermediate with a 97 and third place! And in obedience, Susan and Ruckus earned their first Q in Beginner Novice!

In case you’ve missed the news stories about the nationwide canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD), we want to assure you that South Paws is closely monitoring the situation and developments. We are working with our veterinarians for the latest information and protocols. Currently it has been reported in Georgia but not locally. Right now the best thing you can do is make sure your dog is up to date on vaccinations (especially Bordetella, canine influenza, and DAPPV). Be on the lookout for coughing, runny nose, lethargy, decreased appetite and seek veterinary care right away if these symptoms present. Attending a group setting involving dogs is potentially risky; so, we are upping our cleaning practices and we understand that it is an individual decision as to whether you want your dog to board or do day play. Please let us know if you have questions. We’ll try to answer them, but as of right now a lot surrounding this CIRD is a mystery.

We have agonized over this decision, but due to our inability to find and keep reliable, experienced staff members we are going to discontinue daycare. Safety is our number one priority. We have been constantly short staffed and new hires are just too inexperienced; it’s not safe for the dogs or the humans. The final day of daycare will be Friday, April 14, 2023. We are continuing boarding, training, bath and nails and look forward to seeing all our friends whenever you need us!
