The Humane Society of Statesboro & Bulloch County, Inc. We are NOT the Bulloch County Animal Shelter. We are the Humane Society of Statesboro & Bulloch Coun All donations are tax-deductible according to the law.

The Humane Society of Statesboro & Bulloch County, Inc., is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization that works to end the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals in Bulloch County through its rescue program and its spay/neuter program. Without a central building, we rely on foster homes until our pets find their forever homes. We educate the community on humane pet treatment, adopting pets from rescues and shelters, and the importance of spaying and neutering.

A few of the TNR community cats from my job location.
Trapped #20 today. She is young enough, I hope to be able to socialize and adopt out as a pet.
There are 8 that are there every day. A few others come and go as they want.
They're good company to me on lunch breaks and when I feed them daily.

We are always in need of barn homes.. many cats need a place to call home.
They do better in pairs. They need to have a place for shelter from weather and you provide food and water daily. Having the cats around is a payoff.. they keep the rodents in control.
Please contact us if interested in seeing if we can help you help these cats.

Thank you so much to Morris Bank! So many community cats are going to benefit from these traps and shed! 🐱

The Humane Society of Statesboro and Bulloch County recently received $6,000 from the Morris Bank Community Foundation to purchase new animal traps and a storage shed to stock them in for continued use.

This allows the team to sustain their trap-neuter-release (TNR) program that serves our community and the animals that are a part of it. We appreciate all you do!

An individual has reached out in concern for the cats at a hotel he recently has been staying at while here on a job. We will be working on TNR, but this is an overwhelming task, with the many other colonies in our county.
If there are any individual in this area that can help with daily feeding... it would be much appreciated.

Meadow came to us a month ago with severe possible chemical burns. Luckily, we had a foster available to take her on and now look at her living her best life. She still has a month or two of healing to go until she can be up for adoption.
Without fosters, animals like Meadow wouldn't be able to heal in a safe environment and with it being kitten season we are in desperate need of homes.
Our fosters provide the love and we provide the food, vet care and any other medical needs. If you want the fun of a kitten, cat or dog but not ready for that long term commitment then fostering is a great opportunity.
Email The Humane Society of Statesboro & Bulloch County, Inc. at [email protected] or call 912-681-9393 to become a foster parent.

it's a CATastrophe!!!

Friends, over the past several months we have been working with a family who had 48 cats inside their home! Through tireless volunteer hours we have slowly gotten all of them out of the house. We have picked up the last 17 cats and kittens today. Most of these cats have medical issues like upper respiratory conditions and other illnesses. As you can well imagine, the veterinary care for these cats and kittens has skyrocketed into the 10's of thousands of dollars. All of these animals are in this situation through no fault of their own and do not deserve to be left to suffer when we can do something about it. They are all in our care now but the need for support doesn't stop there. We now have to purchase food, litter, and medicine to care for them while we await foster families and adopters. As you are all well aware we are all VOLUNTEERS who do what we do because we love them. The cats in particular need twice daily care for medicine, food, and cleaning. It is taking a village.
How can you help?
- Donate Donate Donate: those of you who know me know I hate asking for money but that is truly what we need right now. Our vets have been wonderful in providing discounted rates to us but they need to get paid as well. I know times are tough but even $1 goes a long way. You can begin or continue your support today and know that you have helped save a life
- Iams kitten and cat food and non-clumping litter can be dropped off at ReTails Wednesday through Saturday
- Share this post with everyone around the state and nation. The more people we get to help us the more we can do.
- Please spay and neuter your pets.

This work is in addition to the hundreds of cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies we also help as well as our low cost spay and neuter program.

The above situation happened out of a love for animals and was not malicious in any way. It just got out of hand. Hurtful comments about the owners will not help the situation. Believe me when I tell you we are feeling every bit as emotional as you are reading this post but the focus must be on the future and doing what is right for these animals.

As Ghandi said 'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.' It is time for everyone who has ever loved an animal or is an ally against inhumane treatment of animals to stand up and be counted. We can save these lives!
