IMPORTANT NEWS for anyone who owns Holicers from me!
I have some bad news to share.
Unfortunately, after 4 years of breeding blue holicers I am getting out of the breed effective now.
I LOVE this breed and have adored having them, but I reduced my stock significantly over the last year and while I intended to continue breeding (just in smaller numbers) I have discovered that there's a likelihood that almost all of my existing holicers could possible carry the shaded gene.
I believe I know the buck who introduced it but annoyingly he is the father of almost all current members of my herd. I also discovered he carried the chocolate gene, so not one but two undesirable recessives. I am going to hopefully do some test breeding to be 100% sure it is in fact the shaded gene.
That said, if ANYONE has a holicer from my barn, check your ear tattoos. If the tattoo starts with "A," (and example would be AH1) there is a possibility that the rabbit carries shaded and/or chocolate.
Pictured below is the rabbit produced, for anyone curious, as well as a picture of her alongside a standard blue and a lilac
