At Dixie Farrier Services my first and main goal is to deliver a professional and quality experience to the customer. My next goal is to provide a great experience for your horse, as I conduct either a shoeing or trimming procedure on his or her hooves. My main goal while shoeing or trimming your horse is to conduct a procedure that will allow your horse to reach it's full potential when engaged in any activity you choose to take part in. I began shoeing horses nine years ago after going to farrier school and becoming a certified farrier. I also had the great opportunity to apprentice under one of the greatest Maser Farriers in the country Bernard Pelletier. You may have heard the phrase "no hoof no horse" Well that is very true for without four good hooves a horse can do nothing. For a horse to perform at it's greatest potential it must have the proper hoof care. No matter what breed of horse you have or what it's job is, your horse will perform it's best if it is shod at its proper natural angle. Every horse has its own natural angle which it must be shod at. Proper toe length and hoof angle play an important part in a horse being shod at its natural angle.Once the horseshoeing procedure is complete the hoof begins to grow constantly and as it grows the horse moves away from its natural angle. To get the horse back to its natural angle shoeing and trimming is a must. For some they just look at the top of the hoof but it is the underneath that counts even more. For underneath is the sole of the horse's hoof. The horse has three soles, The dead sole, the live sole and the sensitive sole. Another important part of the underneath of the horses hoove is its frog. The frog and the sole are very important to the horse as well as to me and will be maintained properly when I work on your horse. In some cases a horse may develop a foundered or Navicular problem. These problems many times can be corrected with the proper corrective shoeing. It is important to have the proper Veterinary exams completed to properly diagnose the horse first. Then move forward with the proper corrective shoeing. To me a horse is one of the great animals God created and I am dedicated to helping them reach there full potential.
