2008 - 2024
It’s taken us some time to grieve the loss of WCC WC CH He’s In Style, but we would like to share with you a little bit of what it was like to love “Sparky”. “Sparky” was one of the kindest animals there has ever been in the stall. One of the gamest horses to work. And one of the happiest horses, every single day! “Sparky” was a dynamic star in the show ring with some of the biggest eyes you have ever seen (he liked to bump them a lot too) and his incredible speed. Best of luck if you ever tried to keep up with him racking, he could leave every other horse in the dust when it came time for his second rack! He was allergic to everything in the world, no literally, grass, flies, the sun, grain, hay, cats. Everything you could find in a barn or on a farm, and yet, he always powered through. This was just a part of how resilient he was as a show horse! When asked what horse had made Peter a better horse trainer and had challenged him the most, he replied “‘Sparky’ because it was an incredible challenge to keep and maintain this great horse at the top for so many years.”
“Sparky” came to West Wind in 2013 for Emma Sanchez purchased by her grandmother, Sharyn Lackey. It was then that a legendary team was born. That year, Kim Cowart took over the reins while Emma learned how to grow with “Sparky” and Kim took home the Ladies Five Gaited World Championship and World Champion of Champions classes. After this, Emma and “Sparky” became an unstoppable force competing with all of the best and growing their partnership!
They took home several World Championships and Reserve World Championships in both Juvenile and amateur classes, as well as countless classes in their career. Their first time together in Freedom Hall they won the Junior Exhibitor Five Gaited World Championship.
“Sparky” was retired at West Wind, for the past few years, although he was greatly missed on our show string, we were grateful for the opportunity to care for this incredible animal for the rest of his life. He loved trail rides with Emma, well, he loved running off on trail rides with Emma! But even ba****ck and barefoot, you could never deny that “Sparky” had the perfect rack!
He was buried here on the farm he loved, surrounded by all that loved him. “Sparky” you will always and forever be one of the greatest of all time, thank you for sharing your friendship and talent all these years!
