Everyone meet Gunner!!

Gunner is a shepherd mix he found himself in a kill shelter in North Carolina and space was running out and he was added to the euthanize list! but was quickly scooped up and brought to Va and is now ready for his new family and life. Things to know about gunner

Thursday June 6th I was contacted about a seizure and was asked for my help On Monday June 10, 2024, the warrant was executed the Greene County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division, Criminal Investigation Division along with a licensed veterinarian went to the location in Free Union, VA (Greene County). The licensed veterinarian on sight along with animal control determined that living conditions and over all wellbeing of the dogs was poor. There were eighty-one dogs, adult males, puppies, females, and some were pregnant. Monday I removed 38 dogs from this property network tirelessly worked 17.5 hours drove almost 300 miles but my amazing rescue partners came thru to help take. Then Tuesday June 11th I took 5 more totally me at 43 dogs pulled net worked and transferred in less then 48 hours.

At this time no further details, charges are pending on the owners of this puppy mill.

She is 2 years old. Spayed. Super lovable, not a mean bone in her body, very skiddish and doesn’t like to be alone. She is house trained. Knows simple commands like sit or lay down. She’s dog friendly
Very energetic and loves to have your attention.
She will lay and snuggle with you all day though as long as your loving on her.
She also loves the movie lady and the tramp 😂

The sanctuary has been none stop for weeks with intakes and holds/fosters as they await to travel to some of our amazing rescue partners,new homes etc heres just a glimpse of the last several weeks we are all flooding with animals right now so we can’t stress spay and neutering and if you need help reach out!!!

We welcomed sweet baby hon to the sanctuary this morning when we got the message from our local shelter that they needed help after momma went in labor and the rest of the litter passed during C-section and momma was not having the baby so here’s to a chance sweet boy.

Meet Lila
Hi, I'm Lila and I'm such a nice girl. I'm about 6 1/2 years old, which is a great age. I'm full grown and house trained. I've got plenty of energy and a long life ahead of me. But I'm not a crazy, hyper puppy! I'm pretty chill and like to nap a lot.

I weigh about 45 lbs, which is a great size. I won't get any bigger unless I gain weight.

I'm a true Heinz 57, which means that I'm mixed with a lot of breeds. My foster mom did a DNA test and I've got some Staffordshire terrier and some chow and some cattle dog. I even have 1% Pekingese in me!! I'm very cute with a black patch over my eye. I should have been named the Phantom of the Opera or Ying & Yang. People always say how cute I am and that my pictures don't do me justice.

I'm a lover girl. I want to be with my person as much as possible. I love belly rubs and love humans of all sizes, ages and genders.

I am a happy girl and give lots of kisses. I enjoy hanging out with my foster mom and snuggling in bed together.

I'm also a good walking companion.

I am fully house-trained, microchipped, spayed and up to date on all my shots and preventatives.

I live with a bunch of other dogs and we get along fine. But I am dog selective initially. That means that initially I'm a little leary of new dogs and it may take me a day or so to warm up. I would not be a good dog park girl because of that and I don't like dogs who harass me.

I would be a great companion for someone looking for a best friend to hang out with. I'm happy to go for a nice walk or 2 every day and to lay next to you while you work or just hang out. I'd love to snuggle up in bed. I'd love a laid back home with no other animals.

I have a prey drive for squirrels, cats and rabbits. So, I should not go to a home with small animals. I'm an impressive hunter. I caught a rabbit in the yard once and brought it into the house for my foster mom. She was not nearly as happy about it as I thought she would be. 🤣

Meet Kona
Hi, I'm Kona. I'm a beautiful, sweet German Shepherd. I'm about 4 1/2 years old and weigh about 65lbs.

I'm a very loyal girl and I want to be someone's best friend! I follow my foster mom EVERYWHERE and want to be with her all of the time. While she works at her desk, I lay next to her. When she goes into a room and does not let me in, I lay right outside the door waiting for her. When she goes to bed, I lay right next to her in bed or on the floor. You get the picture.

I'm beautiful and healthy. I'm athletic and can run fast. I'm food motivated so I will be easy to train. I'm not food aggressive nor am I a resource guarder. I'm potty trained, crate trained and know how to sit.

I'm really sweet and love to be petted.

I'm very smart - probably too smart.

I'm great with all humans although sometimes I jump up to say hello. I love kids and am great with them.

I live with a bunch of other dogs of all ages and sizes right now and I love it. I like to chase them around. It's really fun for me but I can be annoying. I'm great with dogs once I get to know them and know that I can trust them. But I'm not comfortable meeting new dogs initially. I need a proper introduction before I can trust a new dog. I would not be a good dog park dog.

I have no food or toy aggression.

I'm up to date on shots and my preventatives and am spayed and microchipped.

I'm eager to please.

Given how smart I am and how big I am, I should probably go to a home with an experienced dog owner.

She has actually been with us for a couple weeks now bossing everyone around being the princess she is haha. looking at her you would think she’s about a 2 weeks old chihuahua as she weighs only 420 grams we say that’s mostly ears and head 🤣but she’s actually 11 weeks old now 😮she came to the sanctuary because she was a failure to thrive and grow puppy so keep watching as we see a new vet and figure out why she just so little but if love will make her grow she will be big in no time ❤️ please enjoy her adorable sock sweaters 🥰We will post updates on her as her progression goes. When/If she is ready for adoption here are the things you need to know: 1. A new post will be made stating she is available 2. Once the new post is made then applications will be accepted 3. We stress until our face is blue about supporting puppy mills, and not responsible back yard breeders (Puppy and kitten mills are large-scale breeding operations in which neither the animals’ emotional nor physical well-being is considered) this is a prime example this babies siblings were being sold for $1,200 from a so called usda breeder (fyi that means Nuthing 90% of Amish puppy mills is usda to) we were contacted because she was there throwaway because they couldn’t make money on a sick puppy this is what is happening in so many of our counties this babies eyes were so matted shut from upper respiratory infection she had f***s caked to her butt where she could no longer p**p and her pads couldn’t be seen thru the p**p (zoom in on that picture) and covered in fleas. So remember adopt don’t shop because this right here is what you are supporting!! But baby tinkerbell is flea free p**p free and can see cuddled in a warm fuzzy blanket asleep it’s only up from here sweet baby.

Meet Sweet Boy Bean. He is roughly 3-5 years old. He is 40 pounds, up to date on all vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. He will do best with smaller adult dogs and pays no mind to cats. Does well with children. Doesn’t pull on his leash, walks like a gentleman. Crate trained. He is working on regaining muscle after an injury he obtained before coming into our care. Did someone say baby blues? Everyone meet “Forrest” He’s 2 years old long haired chihuahua Current on vaccines and will be neutered,he’s crate trained. Though his eyes are beautiful His pupils are abnormal when took to the vet the first time, but he does have vision and so the vet said it seems to just be a cosmetic issue (poor breeding 🥺) He’s very shy, he’ll come up to you for pets but doesn’t particularly like to be held unless you’re sitting down and its his choice (he’s not a biter) he is a sweet boy and just needs more time to come out of his shell and we know the right person is out there for him.

Everyone meet “Asher” aka ash he is 2 year old long hair chihuahua hes about 7lbs he’s current on vaccines and will be neutered. He is crate trained and likes other dogs He’s super shy at first (chihuahua shy)but warms up very quickly. Then becomes a love bug. Meet London!

🐾 is approximately 1.5-2 years old

🐾 is a great cuddler

🐾 is spayed and has UTD on vaccines

🐾 knows sit, stay, down, and paw (following those commands is more dependent on if she wants to listen or be the diva she is. Having someone work one on one with her is definitely needed.)

🐾 does go out on a lead or leash but would thrive on a farm not near a road or in a big fenced in yard or active family where she can get all her zoomies out

🐾 is great with other dogs (but really would do well being the only princess of her new home)

🐾 chases one cat and just sniffs the other (not sure if it’s because she wants to play or just thinks that’s what she’s supposed to do ***never hurt them or even gotten close)

🐾 has only been around adults and elementary age kids (in our experience)
