10 month old Sammy has a congenital heart condition called PDA (explanation below). She feels great now and is enjoying playing in the snow with his best friend. Sammy is a major snuggler who has never had enough pets! This love bug doesn’t know her heart is broken.

However, most dogs with this condition do not live to 2 years old. Eventually she will develop Chronic Heart Failure. Sammy’s family has raised a significant portion of the funds needed. However, there is more to do in an ever shortening time frame. Alaska has limited veterinary surgeons. They will need to travel 7 hours to get to the closest hospital that can perform the surgery. Can you help Sammy get the surgery she needs to live a long life and be the childhood buddy her little boy is counting on?

Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital heart condition in which the blood vessel that bypasses the lungs before birth fails to close after the puppy is born. After birth, it should close so blood can flow properly to the lungs. This causes abnormal blood flow between the aorta and the pulmonary artery, which can strain the heart and lungs. PDA can lead to heart failure if not treated, but surgery can fix the problem and allow dogs to live a normal life.

Your generosity allowed us to help over 700 dogs this year! Broken legs, dog attacks, hernias, and pyometra are just a few of the urgent medical needs that your donations helped treat this year. The pet food pantry fed 100 community pets each month. We provided spay/neuter vouchers for over 70 dogs!

Thank you for your support!

Congratulations Artoo! This 10 year old Yorkie has finished his chemo treatment! We are so happy to know that this adorable little guy is cancer free! He is a great example of why Mosby doesn't put an age limit on our grants. Artoo deserves every day, month and year of love he can get!

From Artoo's dad, "Even though you are aware he might not have many years left, you still helped him add many more days to his life… which he absolutely deserves. Artoo graduated from his CHOP Treatment today (6 months strong) and remains in remission. He has many more cookies, bye-byes, cuddles, kisses, and chasing feathers thanks to you!"

Good News Alert!

Turbo had a tumor on his hip removed last month and he is doing great!

His mom says "I wanted to let you know Turbo is doing fantastic! His sutures are out and his incisions are healing up very nicely. The vet said he got clean margins and it was a low grade cancer. So, we're just going to keep an eye on the areas and no chemo. Yay!!

Thank you again for the help! Having him by my side is the best Christmas gift I could have hoped for!"

Thanks to our donors, Petco Love and The Blue Buffalo Pet Cancer Treatment fund, Turbo will be zooming around in no time!

Poor Charlee! Her panicked face seems appropriate based on the number of bladder stones she had removed!

This 7 year old lab mix and certified good girl desperately needed a Cystotomy to remove her bladder stones. Symptoms include problems with urination, abdominal pain and blood in the urine. Thanks to our donors and PetcoLove Foundation, Charlee's surgery was a success!

We are so glad that Charlee is doing well!

The Mosby Foundation loves all dogs! Big dogs, little dogs, senior dogs, dogs with AMAZING EARS! We need your help to keep dogs healthy and with the people who love them! Your donation helps to offset the cost of surgeries and avoids economic euthanasia and shelter surrenders.

Your contribution can mean so much. To a senior whose primary companion, their dog, has a tumor. To a family whose dog ate a sock and needs emergency surgery. To a young person who adopted their first dog and finds out their leg has been broken for months. The sad situations are too numerous to list, but the happy outcomes keep us going!

Please consider donating this Giving Tuesday.

Our Story

The first of the two reversals in fortune that framed Mosby’s life occurred early on a morning in June 1997. At this time a callous and irresponsible person abandoned a puppy by the railroad tracks at a station in Florida. Terrified and confused, the puppy took refuge under a parked car near the tracks. Fortunately, as an Amtrack train groaned to a stop, the puppy fought off the impulse to bolt and run. For fifteen feet away, on the unpredictable hinge of fate, a door opened through which passed Carole Adams. Carole was on her way to Boca Raton to close out the condominium of her parents who had recently passed away. To ease the sadness of her trip, Carole decided to detrain in Dade City, FL to visit some family members. Thus fate, by its incomprehensible manipulation of time and space, put Carole within fifteen feet of the terrified puppy who later would be known as Mosby. At that moment, two souls became instantaneous winners in the lottery called life. Mosby won life-time rights to the greatest home he could ever have asked for and Carole won the love of her life.

On July 4, 1997 Mosby settled into his new home, a simple rustic cabin that was surrounded by the mountains of Marble Valley in western Virginia. His new family consisted of his savior Carole, a handful of canines, a pair of felines, half a dozen equines, dozens of ovine and one old grouch, Carole’s husband.

As dogs are known to do, Mosby was constantly reminded by his new canine brothers and sisters that he defined the bottom of the pecking order. But Mosby didn’t mind simply because, as all who knew him would quickly discover, he was devoid of any sense of social order. He simply loved and respected every creature that he met, be it two legged or four. His creed seemed to be that any mammal blessed with that spark called life is inherently good. What a romantic! He knew he had been given a second chance at life and he was going to make the most of it. Mosby had no time for rivalry, petty jealousies, bickering and the like. Shameless love was his game.

It was quickly obvious to all members of his extended family that Mosby possessed special social skills. Even his ewe sisters did not mind his presence. During lambing season the ewes granted Mosby free access to the lambing pens. They knew the worst they or their lambs could expect from this Malamute/Husky mix was a sloppy wet kiss in the face.
