Meet Pancake the Puppy! After weeks of working with her on exposure to the inside, brushes, pets, and regular doggie care things, she is ready for adoption. She is still very nervous of many “normal” human things, but loves to learn and be involved. She loves pets, to snuggle into your lap for hugs, and to play with other dogs (when she can figure out how). Though things like walking and running next to people, coming directly up for pets, and soliciting interaction doesn’t seem like much, for this little breakfast delicacy, these things can be very alarming. Meet Pancake the Puppy! One of many nervous, shut down, and scared animals we get in as part of our services with the city and county, Pancake was most likely a livestock guardian dog. She was probably paired with an adult dog (or her mother) for training, then got separated for one reason or another from her flock and family. When she arrived at the shelter, she was wary of everyone and everything, even things like meaty treats were a new experience for her. She wasn’t used to going through doorways, being inside, bowls, leashes, or even regular contact with people. Through weeks of positive exposure, slow introductions to new areas, things, and people, she started to learn how to interact with this scary, new world she was brought into. She has made leaps and bounds, though she still has a ways to go, before/if she will ever be, a normal dog. Hello my animal loving friends! I am Daisy, and I am looking for a foster home!
I was found at the local City Market wearing a leash and collar but was never picked up by my people. I spent my first few days in the shelter hiding in the back of my kennel, scared, nervous, and confused. After days of hiding my gorgeous face and getting an excess of yummy elk crumbles, I started to warm up to the staff and come out of my shell a little bit. I continued to make progress, slowly giving my trust back to people. Finally, once I started running and playing, they realized that I have severe hip-dysplasia and would need double hip surgery aka an FHO.
After having my first surgery and going through a couple months of PT which includes water aerobics, lots of stretching, limb manipulation, and lots of walks in fun shapes, I am finally ready to find a foster home where I can continue to recover, adjust and re-learn the wonders of the world. A special plus is you get to see all the cool medical care with no cost to you since RCHS is funding my complete recovery.
My ideal foster home is a home with a big heart, at least one female caretaker (they are just so comforting), no other dogs, and lots of time for socialization, training, and my medical care. If you feel your home is just perfect for me, apply to be my foster today!
