Yep... Chunky is still here. This poor dude has been hanging out with us since July 2022 officially making him our longest resident. Neither Chunky nor any of the staff can figure it out. Chunky is a LOVER! He might be picky about his dog friends but he is all about his people. We would really love to see him blow this popsicle stand and finally find his furever home. He deserves it! If you think you or someone you know would make a good home for Chunky, stop by the shelter today to meet him!

Just a reminder that when you see a dog wearing yellow, it's a friendly reminder to give them space. It could be that they have fear issues, are senior, have recently had medical issues, are working on extra training or numerous other reasons.

This is the sad, heartbreaking reality of disease. This is why we require all adopters to consistently give their current and past pets monthly heartworm prevention . We require proof of heartworm preventative purchase history when someone applies to adopt from us. ONE mosquito bite started this. ONE. Please don’t risk your pets getting heartworm disease, and please keep your pets on heartworm preventative, every month for the entire year.

Heartworm disease is fatal if left untreated, and treatment is costly and painful for your pet. Cost of heartworm prevention? Less than $15/month — cost of treatment? Up to $2,000. Just let that sink in. 🥺💔

UPDATE: Safe with Mountain Pet Rescue foster! Thanks for all of your responses!

In Colorado, Hunter is a 10 mos old, 100 lbs., Alaskan Malamute who is too much puppy for his family's older, 14 lbs , dog. Concerned about their older dog being seriously injured, poor Hunter is headed to a shelter at 4PM this afternoon. Please note that we do not know anything about Hunter except that he got into a fight with a neighbor's dog (who started it) and he has had recent altercations with the little dog in his home. If you can help, please email [email protected]
