I always knew I was a passionate person and that my purpose in life is to make people feel better after they leave me.
I practiced this as an x-ray tech, a photographer and as a speaker.

Prior to my car crash I heard that voice telling me that I needed to slow down and sit in those small moments and I just couldn't quite get there alone.

God literally smacked me up the side of the head and made me stop.

During this tumultuous time, I found myself.

The self that I didn't always allow to come to the surface.

I stopped being quiet. I stopped trying to be perfect. I stopped trying to please everyone.

I concentrated on myself and my family. Without this tragic stupid thing that happened, our family wouldn't understand the true magic of being in such a fundamental place and clawing our way back out.

It Sucked.....so bad.................but we held on tight.

Now I speak openly of my hardships and how I navigate through them. I help to guide others through my experiences. I share the mental health struggles that come with tragedies.

I am vulnerable and honest.

There are still lots of lessons to share...........when I'm ready. For now I urge you to live for those moments that you cannot get back. Hug those teenagers even if they shrug you off, go to the gathering even if you don't feel like it and enjoy every friggin' moment you can because...................you know why.

I rope. It's what I do.

Sometimes I think to myself; "Oh you can let it slide a little it's not like you do this team roping thing for a living. You aren't a world champ. You don't rope on a global stage with the entire rodeo world watching. Heck, half the time you're on your own, loading the cattle and pulling the chute and frustrated with how difficult it all is. Why would you do all this to yourself...at your age? At your level?"

Because I love to rope, that's why.

I said to this young friend of mine who came roping yesterday, "I got a late start in this game and I've got to catch up to all you youngsters who grew up with a rope in your hand. I don't need to just give you my money, you at least need to sweat a little for it."

It's taken me years of dedicated work to get to a level of strong mediocrity (🀣) and then to maintain that level on both ends...heading and heeling.

Folks always talk about falling in love with the process. Well, I understand what they're saying.

I love to rope. To strive. To try. To reach and lose and reach and win. I don't mind failing because I am hooked on the growth that comes with it. If you are looking at it right, failure breeds fearlessness, and those with fearless hearts are tough to beat.

So I'll keep roping. I'll keep making decent horses, steady Eddy types that can get a job done, and pulling my old custom built chute with the frayed rope tied to the handle. I'll keep roping even when I can't find a partner with a search warrant. I'm ok with all that. I didn't pick up a rope the first time with the thought of fame and fortune, I picked it up because I thought it would be fun to try. My goodness, what a colossal understatement that turned out to be!

Team roping...nose candy for the equine adrenaline junkies soul.

Have a good day folks! ☺️

πŸŽ“ Teaching Tuesday! πŸŽ“
Did you know there’s more to therapeutic riding than just getting on a horse? At Power of Hope, participants learn essential horsemanship skills like grooming, saddling, and leading their horse before riding. 🐴✨

These skills teach patience, responsibility, and teamwork while building confidence every step of the way. πŸ’™
