❄️ PLEASE REFRAIN FROM TOWELS & BLANKETS OUTSIDE AS THE TEMPERATURE DROPS!

Fabrics will pull the moisture from the air, dampening them and bringing a chill, or worse, to your pets.

Everyone’s situation is different, so here are some considerstions:

🐾 Consider temporary indoor housing, especially during night hours when temperatures are the lowest.

🐾 Use straw (if available) as a layered matting replacing blankets

🐾 Feed extra - extra calories will give them the energy to combat the temps

🐾 Smaller spaces trap warmth. Be mindful of critters curled up in tight spaces looking for reprieve. ❄️

We are a rescue, not a shelter. We DO NOT have the funds, space or staff (volunteers) to operate as a shelter.

This is why I have to say NO to the perpetual requests of intakes of unwanted dogs & cats.

It's not unknown. Our county is drowning in lack of support of animal welfare. We have assisted close to 500 animals in just two years here, (Steinhatchee/ Jena & Keaton alone!!) and it’s nothing more than a band-aid on a hemmoragjng wound.

We are concentrated on TNR & Spay/Neuter to help NIP this problem at the source.

PLEASE: DONATE, FOSTER, VOLUNTEER - one person cannot do it alone.

I PLAN ON FIGHTING LIKE HELL THIS YEAR!! I’m so tired, I’m so broken hearted! Ask yourself, how will support these animals? ❤️‍🔥

🤍 We will RESUME TNVR of cats in Steinhatchee, Jena & Keaton, ONLY, in FEBRUARY.
Catnip has a large deployment and the temperatures haven’t been cooperative.

🤍 $850.00 is still our current bill at Operation Catnip. We need donations!! After the hurricane, it all just stopped coming in. It makes me hesitant to take on more.

🤍 We simply cannot (physically) accept dogs at this time. We can help sponsor bills, but we do not have the current, acceptable, environment for intakes.

🤍 I’m battling Facebook sharing my information. Every day they claim my page promotes hate & sexualization, therefore, they won’t “promote” my page. 😒 I’m not sure if someone is harassing the page by making false reports, but it has been a disaster.

✨ We are beyond grateful for all that has been accomplished since Hurricane Helene! (Around 65 spay/neuters, and several adoptions!) So many generous donors & spunky volunteers helped us in ways we’ll never forget!

We’re tired, and we are low on donations, so we are going to take the holidays to breathe and recoup.

We will be back in time for the New Year, to carry our mission forward ✨

I ENCOURAGE YOU to take this opportunity to consider giving to a smaller rescue!

How?!

🐾 Monetary donation: small rescues are fighting the highest intake rates, with some of the lowest donations rates. Help these rescues survive this rut!! Nonprofits RELY on funding.

🐾Give a “share”, positive words of encouragement, or a review.

🐾Your time: give just one day, one hour or simply one “task”. Rescues rely on volunteers and sometimes it’s something as simple as cutting trap covers, or checking on a local donation box that can ease our workload.

🐾Give a funding opportunity: sponsor a fundraiser on a local rescue’s behalf, tack on an extra 50/50 or designate a donation drop off box for a week. Be creative!

In just two years, over (400) FOUR HUNDRED animals in Steinhatchee, Jena and Keaton have received medical care, found their forever homes, or (even better) BOTH!

I don’t even have the words…

We are SO, SO tired, but your gratitude, your generosity, your volunteering, your compassionate words & your patience, & your never ending belief of what can be achieved is what truly makes this all possible!!

I want to extend such immense amount of gratitude to Purina and Carolina Relief, again!!

For the past month we have been able to supply an overwhelming amount of support to those affected by the recent Hurricanes.

The last little bit of food has been divided up amongst the local distribution sites & the food pantry. So, if you’re still in need, stop and say hello to them

I feel like I’m not too far off.. Bless everyone’s patience. I’m still tackling TNR, the food pantry is almost empty, I had couple emergencies that popped up. I’m fostering, raising a toddler, replanning my wedding, catching up on paperwork & totally forgetting to even make dinner. 😅🙏🏼

Light heartedness aside - those who have reached out for help, you are on the list, & the list is going down 👏🏼

I love the kindness, I love the support. It means the WORLD to us that so many people have looked out for us during this past month.

I give my best “thank you” by pressing forward and doing what we can, where we can.

Keep the good going round 💕💕💕

🩵 Everyone, meet Scarecrow… the three-legged kitty that could! 👋🏻 Let me share his story quick…

Scarecrow found Mackayla, and Mackayla found us. Scarecrow showed up at her place on her late-son’s birthday. It was a sign she needed to help him.

Mackayla reached out to us, very concerned for his health and noticing his back leg was mangled. I contacted Operation Catnip and he was graciously accepted by them. Scarecrow underwent surgery for neuter & he had his hind leg safely amputated.

Scarecrow will be spending the next few weeks with us here at A Hound to Hold, Inc. NonProfit Rescue. We will continue to keep him company and allow him a gentle recovery. When he is ready, he will join Mackayla and her family 💕

It’s a happy ending for this sweet, shy boy. Some things are just meant to be 🫶🏼

Feel free to shower this boy with some kitty supplies while he is in rehab.😉🙏🏼 it’s very much appreciated, and makes cases like this possible.

❣️Now 230 cats have been locally assisted ❣️ 🐈 Today was RELEASE day 💕 (10) more kitties between Steinhatchee and Keaton were humanely trapped, spay-neutered, vaccinated and released this weekend !! With kitten season upon us, we have at least (10) more (230 total) we won’t have to worry about! Thank you to all the volunteers who continue to help make it possible and to Operation Catnip, RedRover, BISSELL Pet Foundation & Cathy Bissell for this extension of Coastal Cats in December!
