Successful trainers can read a horse and its personality.

They know how to earn trust and respect. They understand how much pressure they can apply without causing regression in the training.

Horses are similar to people.

Sometimes you can ask an individual to do a task and they willing do it. Other times an individual has to be pushed to do a task. Some can handle being scolded and some shut down if you raise your voice at them.

Same concept.

Learn to read the animal if you want to have success training.

Sneak peak of the mare I’ll be using at the Spring Equine Extravaganza! Whiskey is an 8 year old Andalusian X Thoroughbred and has had about a year off and this is my first time meeting her, excited to see how she will do on the 7th!

Carolina has a BIA in equine studies and years of experience. She trains and works with all breeds and disciplines. Come out and see her demonstrations and talk to her about legging up your horse!

This mare was awesome today! Went to the public arena in Lovettsville and popped over a couple small jumps and she worked really well. She is still for sale and would make a great jumper or all around horse!

Willow is a sweet mare, don’t let her age fool you, she doesn’t act like an 18 year old! Willow used to do low level eventing and is now in training with me to be a great all around horse. I have taken her off property a few times and she has been great. She goes English and western. She is more go than woah but comes back from working to riding with a low relaxed head and riding on the buckle. Neck reins and moves off the leg nicely. She thrives with a confident rider, would be best suited for an intermediate/ experience rider. She’s great around dogs, I’ve thrown a rope off of her and pulled barrels and tarps, we are still working on dragging things but she is progressing very well! She is turned out with two other mares and does great, low in the pecking order, and rides great with other horses.
She has only been in work with me about a month so she is getting back in shape but starting to muscle up well. She wears front shoes.
