Last night we had the pleasure of overnighting this beautiful EDD pup Pigi! He is now retired and now traveling to his handler in Arizona.

Last night, we had the pleasure of overnighting 5 - 8 week old pittie puppies. They traveled from Alabama Saturday and Sunday, to Upstate New York (near Syracuse) this morning. All by volunteer drivers, in order to remove them from Kill Shelters. A friend of mine Ashlie, drove the Staunton to Stephen's City leg. It was her first transport Our groomerJamie clipped the sharp tips off their nails this morning, and they were on their way with clean bedding and toys. Here are some pictures of these cuties. Each weighed in at about 5 pounds.

I picked up "now retired" EDD pup Jino on 1/18 and he was supposed to travel the next day to his new home. Due to the snow on 1/19, he stayed with us until they could reschedule the transport drivers. We'll, Jino left today 1/27. We will really miss this sweet guy.

We get a lot of calls asking about nail trims. Here's the information:

Walk-in nail trims (no appointment necessary) Monday through Friday 9 to 4, Saturday 9 to 1 and Sunday 9 to noon.

Cost is $12., or you can purchase a nail trim card for $35. That works out to $7 a trim! We even keep the card on file for you, so you don't lose it!

This was posted by Shirley's Angels Animal Rescue as of yesterday. 39 cats so far, with many more to rescue. WE are pledging to help by collecting as many bags of cat food as possible. Our goal is 1000 pounds. Please drop off at our shop and we will make sure they go to all the rescues! Note: some pictures may be disturbing.

For the last couple days we were blindsided by this respiratory illness and scrambling to save the puppies we haven’t even had a moment to update on the large cat situation. 16 more cats were pulled from the property bringing the total so far to 39 and there are still many more.

This has been huge undertaking that has required the combined efforts of so many rescues working together for the sake of these cats.

The team work, coordination and willingness to help each other is truly amazing and renewed our faith that together we truly can do so much more to impact the lives of the voiceless. From rescues jumping in to help access the situation , coordinate fosters and rescues, work with the family, volunteer time to go round up cats, transport them, take them into their rescues, running them to vet apts and meeting other rescues to pass off cats, to sharing donations of food and litter to take to the family. Everyone has all worked together beautifully to make a difference in the lives of so many and we are still in awe at how much we accomplished so quickly together.

Many thanks to everyone at To the ResQ, Acacia and Ruth with Tails High, Darbys Place, Carolyn with Shadys Paw, Community Cat Alliance, Furry Friends, Dakotas Dream, Dawn V who’s been part of every trip there, Michelle with Almost Heaven and all the wonderful volunteers with SAAR who scrambled to make room.

We all still have so many to help but we are making such progress. Please if you can help any of the above mentioned rescues they all need you now.

DID YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD NOT POUR COLD WATER ON AN OVERHEATED DOG OR PUT A WET TOWEL ON THEIR BACK ‼️
HERE’S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO…

Animal lovers, never make the mistake of throwing cold water on an overheated dog or putting a wet towel on his back. You will see the opposite effect.

Due to the cold, the veins contract and due to the high temperature (above 42 degrees), the proteins in the blood clot, which makes the blood thick and viscous.
Due to the combination of the two, the heart can no longer get the blood and the organs fail one by one due to lack of oxygen.

The result is a very slow but very painful death.
If you try to help an overheated dog in this way, he will still die.

First give lukewarm water to drink, then cool the soles of the feet and chest/lower abdomen with a damp towel.
Then put the dog in the shade on a damp towel!!

Sharing is highly desirable because again and again we see images of overheated dogs getting out of a car with water poured on their backs ❎
