So we're terrible at Social Media (You know this, you still allow us onto your feed, and we are eternally grateful.) Last week was therapy dog week here in the US. We're right out straight and I simply missed it, but because we're the Eric Cartman of the dog training world...we do what we want.

Announcing "K9 Responder Academy Appreciation Week!"

This week we're going to highlight some therapy dogs and their handlers, particularly those working in the first responder community.

Today I start you with the first therapy dog I had a hand in officially working with. Pictured here is Mattie. Mattie is named after Firefighter Matt Hall who passed away in the line of duty. Mattie is a labradoodle from Doodle Run Kennels.

I worked with her while I was working with America's K-9 Caring Angels, who I believe still has more facility dogs working throughout the US than anyone else. I adore them. I adore Mattie, and I absolutely adore Summerfield Fire District for putting all the red tape, and "what if's" aside and just taking care of their team after a line of duty death.

This photo is within about the first 60 seconds of Mattie meeting her new family, and her primary handler Assistant Chief Jenna Daniels and her husband, Kirk, who works for Greensboro FD. I could tell you it was love at first sight, but you can see for yourself. This is where it started, but you can follow Summerfield Fire District and all of Mattie's adventures to see what she's been up to over the last year!

Sedona x Buddy week 3 ENS is finished and we are now moving into the socialization period…. Take a peak!

Week three is the beginning of the puppies socialization period and it’s one of the fastest growth periods in a puppies life.
There are several developmental milestones that have been reached by this point and we are looking for more to emerge this week.
Currently puppies have opened their eyes, and ears, are starting to toddle around, they have begun to scent the air and communicate with each other!
Their teeth are starting to erupt and they will be looking to get into momma’s food in no time at all!

Today we are running the Puppy gauntlet for Hope and Brady‘s litter. These puppies are available NOW, we continue to raise the bar of expectation for RECALL, and this exercise promotes critical thinking skills as they navigate the objects!

Watch Charity’s puppies ( mini goldendoodles) traverse the puppy gauntlet. This is a great exercise for puppies. It raises the bar for teaching RECALL, BUILDS CONFIDENCE, and promotes CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS and most of all its FUN!!!

Today is the day that Murphy transitions as a service dog in Training to his Veteran.
It’s such an exciting time for me as a trainer and as a breeder to know that one of my dogs is going to be able to assist a veteran be able to integrate into civilian life.
Murphy has acquired 300 of his 360 hours of service dog training and we are looking to see him be certified in the next two months.
We’re gonna miss this guy, but we know that he is going to make a world of difference for his Veteran!!!!

Teaching RECALL to puppies starts as early as 3 weeks. Puppies learn the “puppy call” and when they hear that, they all come over to investigate…… today we are taking each puppy separately and teaching RECALL using high value targeting treats. RECALL is the most important command you can teach, it creates reliability, trust, and brings safety to your pup.
