One thing which has NOT changed in 437 years----Farriers look grumpy because:

a. Their backs hurt.
b. Some idiot is telling them how to do their job.
c. The horse is screwing around.
d. They waited 7 months last time for the "check that was just mailed."
e.They've just learned there are "only" six more to do today", and,
f. The six are in the pasture, and, "You don't mind catching them and bringing them in, I'm sure."

This is why ringbone is such a horrible diagnosis.

We know a hoof rehabilitation farrier who began her in depth studies and apprenticeships because she lost her mare to ringbone from a lifetime of improper trim set ups in the hooves.

Ringbone is an issue that is mainly occurring because of a lack of knowledgeable hoof care.

Sometimes exceptional work with a horse won't matter — a farrier could be fired by the client regardless. All of the skill and knowledge with a horse didn't help. And as that farrier, maybe you're left wondering what the heck happened.

I can think of two farriers that it’s literally a race to comment, “Probably the farrier’s fault”.

My client did X-rays on her horse for the crack it was superficial..the vet thought we did the right thing no seedy toe or white line the horse kick the pipe fence is the reason for the crack.
