Blue is an adorable yorkie, poodle mix. He has a beautiful mostly wire coat so today he received a hand stripping session. Hand stripping is a service exclusive to wire coated breeds; it retains the harsh coat texture and more vibrant, brighter genetic coloring. Terriers that are consistently clipper cut instead of stripped typically have a coat that turns dull and fuzzy, as well as increasing the chances of skin issues, such as canine acne and clogged pores.
Hand stripping has many pros! These include:
*Coat color retention
*Coat texture retention
*Wire coats repel dirt, water and environmental elements such as burrs
*Wire coats don't mat and require less brush care than a soft coat
*Maintains coat AND skin health

Smiddey is a 16 wk Bichon Frise who came in for his first visit! He absolutely killed it, and his parents have done well with brushing and handling him at home. All I had to work with was clipper/scissor introduction and handing of the face. After a few repetitions he easily caught on and was overall calm and cooperative on the table. We rewarded with treats and a few play breaks 😁

My favorite trio came back to see me for their holiday trims! All three are shih tzu mix, rescues and little Magoo only has one eye! They're all super sweet and I love when its slow and they can chill on the salon floor with me. Mookie is the only one with attitude- he wears a cone of shame during his nail trim and preclip to protect us both 😂 Otherwise he's very gentle and a breeze to work with.
To top it off, their parents brought me their Christmas card! A local artist drew the pups and helped create their holiday card. I'm in love! ❤

I'd love to see a DNA breed test on this girl! Black Rain was put as an American Staffordshire PBT bath/brush. When mom brought her in, she mentioned she also wanted her hair cut. I had to double take. A haircut on a pittie? 😂 But as you can see she's a PBT mix. Check out her unique feathering on the ears, legs, toes and oddly on her flank. 🤔 Either way, I neatened her frills with scissors and cleaned her up. Black Rain was so sweet!

Today I met Lucky! He's 9 months old and this was his second grooming. He blew me away with his table manners! Hands down one of thr best I've worked with. Whoever gave him his first puppy groom hit it out of the park with him ❤
And I was able to practice my scissorwork on his teeny legs!

Bailey's mom wanted a strip but I opted to throw in some creativity with a tapered flare on his legs. Mom loved it and I loved experimenting! And on top of that, Bailey stands amazing and is exceedingly sweet and patient. I can't wait to see him again! ❤
