Our 2 years in business started with these 4 dogs. Etta and Miles’ pet parents were called out of town and asked if Deb could take of their dogs..She answered with “I have a new building just finished, So bring them in.. And we opened our doors for the first time.. Walley became our first boarder a few days later when his mom took a friend to Chicago. Shortly after that, Destiny began to stay with us when her mom worked nights. She went on to become our first daycare dog.. Thank You Kevin, Becky, Cathy, and Joanne for having the courage to trust a fledging business with your dogs. We’re so glad you came through our doors

As we prepare for tomorrow’s celebration, we have to take time out to honor and thank Joanne Wollack.. Joanne came to us for nighttime care for her 6 month old Destiny. We had been open only a few weeks and she had the courage to trust us. Destiny has been coming ever since and went on to be our first daycare dog.. And, Joanne became one of our biggest cheerleader. She even helped us get those Barkery T-shirts you see on the staff.. Thank you, Joanne

Raise a glass to cheer with this group. These are the Monday trainers who meet to help each other and their dogs prepare for competition. They complete in Conformation, Obedience, Nose Work, Dock Diving, and Fast Cat and have earned many an award; and at least 3 of them are breeders.. Look closely, because you’ll recognize them as folks who volunteer around the place.. Also, soon you will see some of them teaching classes. And here is another part of our Barkery Support team.. Heidi and Brian Totey are new to the area and chose us to care for their beloved Atlas. They were so happy with the care the Atlas got, they offered to help other dogs get the same good care.. So… they are some of the folks you might find here entertaining and exercising the dogs on a busy weekend.. How blessed we are to have such good folks willing to give of themselves to make sure our guests are happy.!! Thank you Heidi and Brian

No Barkery celebration would be complete without thanking the King family. Chris, Butch, Stacy, and Missy began their Barkery time while the business plans and loan applications were being made. They then went on to help with the design plans, pick colors, flooring, windows and everything else that went into creating our space. Their vision gave it the beauty that it’s known for. Since then, they have become frequent visitors and our biggest cheerleaders.. Thank you Kings and Happy Anniversary

Time to say thank you to another of our supports. Jason and Virginia Heal are both customers and volunteers..On those weekends when we have a full house, the Heals come out to help feed, love and exercise dogs.. Jason has also been out occasionally to help with repairs…and find a way into the building when Deb was locked out. Thank you, Virginia, Jason, and the kids, for being so good to us!

Each time they come in they bring dogs, treats, warm hello’s and a genuine interest in how this new business is doing.. we are uplifted every time they visit . Keep your pets safe during these very high temps! 🥵 Share this post to remind others!
- Do not leave your pets in the car unattended for any amount of time!
- Limit Exercise: Avoid strenuous exercise and try to limit activity to cooler times of the day.
- Provide water: Your dog should have access to cool, clean drinking water at all times, and you should check on the water level in their bowl several times a day. If you're walking your dog, you can bring a water bottle or flexible bowl to give them plenty of water throughout.
- Protect their paws: Hot asphalt (and other surfaces) can burn your dog's paws and increase their body temperature.
- Watch for signs of heatstroke: Signs of heatstroke include heavy panting, red eyes and gums, hot skin, vomiting, and uncoordinated behavior. If your dog is showing early signs of heat stress, you can try gently cooling them down with a fan and a cooling mat or jacket, and offer them plenty of water. Contact your vet if you have concerns!
- Keep indoors: When temperatures are extreme, try keeping your dog indoors as much as possible. Provide shade in outdoor areas.

it seems like the more friends we make, the more chances we have for our hearts to be broken. Yesterday we said Goodbye to our good friend Mac. Mac was one of our first boarding dogs and spent a month with us while his family moved into and updated a new home. Not quite a year old, he was a bouncy, barky, and sometimes naughty, baby boy. But he also loved the staff and group play. Handful that he was,, he wormed his way right into our hearts with his gentle, loving spirit.. He was a member of the Saturday morning Doodles and Donuts group, and went on to become one of our first daycare dog and was a “tester” dog for playgroup evaluations. Sadly a health issue took him from us all too soon.. Run free Big Guy.. You were still a bouncy, barky, and sometimes naughty baby right up to the end and. your spirit will always be here with us. We will miss you

Looks like we have another champion from
the Monday Night Training Group.. Becki Blevins and her Skye Terrier, Sullivan, traveled to Greeley Colorado last week to participate in the Columbine Skye Terrier Club Specialty Show..
Mr. Sullivan came back with a Winners Dog and Best of Winners titles to finish the requirements for his “Champion” title!!!
Congrats to them both. How lucky we are to have them as part of our Barkery Family. See you at practice soon

☀ Keeping your dog safe during hot weather is crucial. Here are some tips:
1. Hydration is Key: Always provide fresh, clean water inside and outside. Consider adding ice cubes to keep it cool.
2. Avoid Peak Heat: Walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures are cooler.
3. Shade and Shelter: Ensure your dog has access to shaded areas and a cool place to rest.
4. Never Leave in a Car: Temperatures inside a parked car can rise rapidly, leading to heatstroke.
5. Limit Exercise: Reduce vigorous activities during the hottest parts of the day.
6. Watch for Signs of Overheating: Panting excessively, drooling, lethargy, or collapse are signs of heatstroke. Seek immediate veterinary care if you notice these symptoms.
7. Use Cooling Aids: Dog cooling mats, vests, and bandanas can help regulate your dog's body temperature.
8. Avoid Hot Surfaces: Pavements and sand can get extremely hot and burn your dog's paws. Test surfaces with your hand before walking.
9. Grooming: Keep your dog's coat well-groomed. For some breeds, trimming long fur can help, but consult with a vet or groomer.

We celebrated another Birthday today. Our Good Friend Temperance came to spend her 4th birthday with us so she could play with her friends. What a great gift, Dad..
