4th of July is fast approaching!
Here are some helpful tips for your pups:
-Leave them at home during fireworks.
-Make sure they are wearing their collar with name tag and phone number (your contact info).
-Contact your vet for appropriate medication.
Talk to your vet BEFORE giving them any calming supplements especially if your pup is on ANY medication.
-Prepare a nice cool dark room for them to hang out in. Use white noise or music in the room to help drown out the fireworks.
-Give them plenty of exercise during the day.
-Take them outside BEFORE the fireworks start to go potty.
-Try a Thunder shirt or anxiety wrap.
-Don't scold them for being scared or nervous. Talk to them in a clam soothing manner.
-Limit the coming and going of people in and out of the house. A scare dog will try to bolt out of the door no matter how well trained they are.
There is a 30-60% increase of lost dogs between July 4-6.
