Join us in celebrating the upcoming hunting season, 10 years of the American Woodcock Society (AWS) and Michigan Grouse Enhanced Management Sites (MI GEMS) in partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Participants will enjoy a full day of presentations and demonstrations to prepare themselves and their dogs for the 2024 hunting season.

The Lazy Eight Enterprises LLC cargo camper always generates interest on the road and I thought I would share a little about it. It will be attending several hunting and RGS events/gatherings over the fall and I am always glad to share the construction process if someone is considering building one themselves.

This cargo camper was built to be independent of electricity and water for long periods of time. We prefer solitude to campgrounds and this rig allows for that easily.

Construction was during Covid and a lot of research, thought and effort went into it. YouTube was invaluable but there is also a lot of bad info to sift through. The electrical system was a challenge where the goal was self sufficiency but still be able to take advantage of shore power in any configuration. It has two solar systems (400w and 200w), propane generator and three options to tie into shore power. It can carry about 50 gallons of water easily. While not perfect, it is very comfortable for long trips.

Bears are a unique challenge and usually require some customization. More than any other animal, their body shapes vary tremendously from long and lanky to short and stout.

To make sure a bear mount matches its size in life, it takes some accurate measurements and sometimes serious adjustments.

I love the challenge of this type of work and the opportunity to create truly custom, one of a kind taxidermy.

Getting those mounts home safely can be a challenge with their awkward shape and offset balance points.

I had a very resourceful lady stop in to pick up mounts today (who has acquired a lot of deer head hauling expertise over the past decade) with these two totes.

I thought it was a great idea that worked perfectly!!!!
