Today’s Catches 🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛🐈

Our amazing volunteers trapped 9 kitties today for TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) from several of our Park Heights colonies!

We care for over 100 homeless cats across 13 colonies, ensuring they are fed, safe, and—most importantly— fixed.

TNR is a humane way to prevent overpopulation, reduce suffering, and improve the lives of outdoor cats. Spaying and neutering keeps colonies healthier, prevents more kittens from being born into tough outdoor conditions, and helps reduce nuisance behaviors like spraying and fighting. Each cat we trap receives medical care, vaccines, and sterilization.

Please donate to help us continue this vital work! Every dollar goes directly to medical bills and supplies to help these homeless cats.

Thank you for supporting TNR and the cats who rely on us! ❤️

🚨 Mr. Smoke Needs Your Help! 🚨

Remember Smoke, the street kitty we trapped last week from one of our colonies? He was in very rough shape so we took him in for an antibiotic shot- hoping to give him a fighting chance. Well, we’re so glad we brought him inside because this boy deserves a real shot at a better life.

Today, Smoke saw Dr. McMichael at Timonium Animal Hospital, and we learned he has a polyp in his right ear and possibly another in the back of his throat. These polyps likely formed from chronic inflammation and are making it hard for him to breathe and recover from his persistent upper respiratory infection.

The only way to help him heal is surgery to remove the polyps, and Dr. McMichael recommends doing it ASAP. She’s ready to perform the surgery today, but we need your support to make it happen.

While there’s a small risk Smoke won’t make it through surgery, not treating the polyps is an even bigger risk. Right now, he’s still so congested, even after a week on antibiotics, and we want to give him the best chance to finally feel good.

Thank you to Show Your Soft Side for approving him for Street Kitty Fund to cover the cost. We’re now asking for your help to replenish the life saving Street Kitty Fund that is helping to save Mr. Smoke. Every dollar brings this happy little biscuit king one step closer to the comfort and care he deserves.

Please donate if you can, and share to spread the word. Let’s show Smoke that he matters and that his street days are behind him for good.

📸 Check out these pics of Smoke living his best indoor life while waiting for his second chance! 🥰

Thank you for being part of his journey to healing!

🚨 Help Replenish the Street Kitty Fund! 🚨

This past Sunday we found Smoke- a homeless kitty who sounded like an old man who had smoked a pack a day for years. Poor Smoke was in desperate need of medical care, so we turned to Show Your Soft Side’s Street Kitty Fund for help.

On Wednesday, Smoke was seen at Howard County Animal Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a severe upper respiratory infection and received a much-needed antibiotic shot. Thanks to this incredible fund, he’s already looking and sounding a million times better! Smoke is the sweetest patient—he even lets us clean his little nose. 🩷

But the work doesn’t stop here. Every dollar in the Street Kitty Fund goes toward saving the lives of homeless cats like Smoke. Let’s make sure this lifesaving resource is ready for the next kitty in need!

Please donate today to help us replenish this vital fund. Together, we can make a difference for cats like Smoke who deserve a second chance.

Smoke will be available for adoption through the Feline Rescue Association once he’s fully recovered. Stay tuned for updates on this sweet boy!

Thank you for showing your soft side! 🐈‍⬛🐈💕

Merry Christmas and Hannukah Eve!🎄🎁

But first, a song. (To the tune of the chorus of that awful song “do they know it’s Christmas”) 🎶

Oh there was little snow in Park Heights this Christmas Eve, the water bowls were frozen—no food in sight.
Little cat prints around the street, no kibbles for them to eat….Do they know it’s Christmas time at all? Feed the caaaaaats!🎶

Remember Lisa? She had her eye surgery 2 weeks ago to repair an injury that had ruptured her eye at some point outside.

All looked well post surgery until a few days ago when it appeared bloody. Per Dr McMichael at Timonium Animal Hospital: "It looked like there was granulation tissue along the lateral aspect and it may be scarring down again.”

Dr McM saw her this morning and was 50/50 on whether her eye would heel properly long term. Lisa’s body was overproducing inflammatory cells which was causing problems.

We were also concerned about her ability to be adopted. Her eye would never look normal and we can’t be sure there wouldn’t be issues down the road.

She decided it best to remove the eye in order to give her the best chance of finding a forever home and high quality of life. She had it removed today since McM had an opening in her surgery schedule.

Thank you to Show Your Soft Side for helping cover the cost of these surgeries! Please help use replenish this vital resource that helps homeless kitties.

FRA sadly announces the passing of one of the best. Our beloved Cindy Ciarpella lost her long battle with cancer last night.

Everyone that knew Cindy loved her so much. She was one of the most kindhearted people in the world. Her tireless efforts in rescue were un-waivering, even after she was diagnosed many years ago.

Cindy was one of the original Park Heights Animal Welfare volunteers and Board Member at The Feline Rescue Association since its founding.

Cindy was a huge part of the lives of the many cats that she saved (and maybe a racoon or six, a rat here and there, and many more critters). She trapped, saved and adopted out *hundreds of cats.

Cindy was dedicated to TNR, the cats, and the communities she helped. Her tireless efforts in cat rescue for over 20 years will be remembered long after today.

Many true and long lasting friendships came from working with Cindy. She could always make you laugh, and was a ninja at dodging having her picture taken! Together with Colleen, Erin, and Joan, you could find them in the craziest places trapping, feeding, and always always laughing.

We love you Cindy and you will always be in our hearts.

Donations in Cindy's name can be made to The Feline Rescue Association for the ongoing care of the cats she loved.

Good news- Dr McMichael at Timonium Animal Hospital was able to save Lisa’s eye!!!! 🙌

It looks like there was a previous rupture and her 3rd eyelid had actually grown over her eye to seal the hole- and actually helped it to heal! She still has vision in the eye so Dr McM decided best to remove the excess skin there to improve her vision!

Thank you to Show Your Soft Side for approving Lisa for your street kitty fund to cover the cost of this! Please consider donating to help replenish this vital fund!
