LIVER: Who loves it? Want to share your favorite recipe below, & we will give it a try?👇🏼

As we do sell liver as part of our F2M Meat Depot, we thought it only right to experiment with cooking it, to share recipes and experience to clients interested in finding new ways to cook and eat it.

Liver contains plenty of protein, iron, and B vitamins. It’s also one of the best animal-based sources of vitamin A. One serving of beef liver, for example, provides more than 100% of your daily vitamin A requirement. Getting enough vitamin A has been linked to a lower risk of conditions like cataracts and breast cancer.

Liver is also a good source of:
Vitamin C
Potassium
Phosphorus
Copper

Beef liver nutrition. A 3-ounce serving of beef liver (4 ounces or 110 grams uncooked) contains:
Calories: 149
Protein: 23 grams
Fat: 4 grams
Cholesterol: 310 milligrams

Getting the kids back into the leather shop. Thankful for an air conditioner in the shop to finish their 4H projects. Don’t mind the faces, only one can give a relaxed smile 🤷🏻‍♀️😅

Need to fill your freezer? We have a few options!

1) We have a 1/2 available, going in on Wednesday. 1/4s or 1/2 is available. You buy the animal & pay the butcher for cut & wrap. You can select your own cuts.

2) We have a whole, coming home this week. We have the entire animal divided into 4ths, so you will receive a variety of steaks, roasts, & burger from the entire animal. You can select a 1/4, 1/2 or whole.

This is the last of our bulk beef until November - January butcher dates, so make sure you get it while it’s available!

We are at Hamilton Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, so if you need individual packages, we will have those there, or at home, secure in our Meat Depot freezers!

Eye irritant season has started, known by a general term of pinkeye.

2 calves have weepy eyes and we caught it early, so their eyes should be fine. As flies are attracted to the moisture & bring bacteria into the eye, we cover & protect it for quick healing. Not everyone covers the eye, but it works well for us & we recycle old jeans for patches. And, let’s face it, pirate cows are cool looking 😉

Thankful that Mocha will lead all of her calves in so that we didn’t have to saddle a horse. All 3 of her babies are growing really well. 2 of them were the only ones in the field with irritants.

The old calf roper got some practice in too - flipping 300 # calves and tying them to doctor.

Getting in their daily treats of corn! We do have a few beef left for our July butcher dates, available in quarters, halves & wholes. The best part is that you get to pick your own cuts and package sizes at our favorite local butcher Bar MW Meats LLC!

Our clients are the best - great local people and fellow ranchers, who don’t need the chore of finishing their own beef!
