💫 Meet your Miracle

🚨 Roxy was seen after acutely vomiting with development of neurologic signs, including tremors. She arrived with a body temperature of 106.4.

🩺 It turns out Roxy got into some moly bologna. From our friends at , "Toxins called tremorgenic mycotoxins can form in spoiled, moldy food. Ingestion of these toxins can cause acute tremors, which can range from mild to life-threatening."

🏥 Although Roxy's chance of survival with aggressive treatment was promising, these medical services are costly. Keeping the lights on, ensuring round-the-clock staffing, maintaining state-of-the-art equipment, and delivering top-notch veterinary care all contribute to our operational expenses.

🤲 With the help of the Miracle Fund (i.e., your contribution), we were able to assist Roxy and her family. Thank you all for looking out for each other in this wonderful community.

My boys love their carrots! 🥕 🥕

Cold or frozen carrots are a great treat option for dogs, especially in this heat. ☀️
They are low calorie, rich in vitamins and have a high water content. The crunching & chewing also helps clean their teeth by scraping plaque & tartar buildup!

With the weather warming up, I would like to share some tips for walking dogs in the spring & summer months ☀️ As well as educate you on signs of overheating.

* 💦 Hydration: Your dog should always have access to fresh, cool water. When going for longer walks, it is a good idea to bring water along for you & your dog.

* ⏰ Time: Early mornings or evenings while it is cool are the best times for walks. Multiple, shorter walks throughout the day would be better than one or two long walks in the heat.

* 🌤️ Shade: Find shady spots to walk where the pavement is cooler, or grass areas. If walking on the road or sidewalk, it’s always a good idea to place your palm on the ground to make sure it is not too hot for their paws.

Signs of overheating in dogs:

* Excessive panting or drooling, lethargy, vomit or diarrhea, bright red gums or tongue, glazed eyes, rapid heart rate, lack of coordination or collapsing.

If you notice any of these signs, move the dog to a cooler area and offer water. Turn fan on if available. You can use wet towels or cloths to lower their body temperature but it is important not to overcool them with ice or extremely cold water as that can prevent the body from cooling properly. Consult a veterinarian if necessary.

I have room to add a few dogs to my daily drop-in / walk schedule.
If you think your pet(s) would benefit from an afternoon walk or just a playtime & potty break to have some company for a little while you are away at work, let me know!
Times that are open are 12:30-1:30 pm & 4-5 pm. Most Mondays & Fridays I also have 10-11:30 am open. I am also readily available most evenings for emergencies. Rates are $25/walk & $20/drop-in. Text or message me today, I can add your pet to my schedule as soon as next week!
