If you have walked dogs at the shelter in the past, you may have met but not walked Forrest. Only certain people were allowed to walk him because he was a handful. When a family wanted to foster him last year for Christmas, we were excited for him. Little did we know it would change his life.
Forrest Update:
Good morning,
1 year ago today, we were the first ones at your door the day after Christmas. We never fostered before and Forrest was one of the last 2 at the shelter but we took a chance and we were busting at the seams to tell you he stole our heart ❤️ We let him hang out and say his goodbyes while we picked up his new bed, toys, and food to return home. Happy 1 year adoption day, Forrest 🐾

Ember wants to wish you all a Merry Christmas. She hasn't picked her Forever Family yet but we have high hopes that they will walk through the door soon! We are open today, Dec. 24 from 1:00-5:00 and we will be closed Christmas day. We hope you all have an AMAZING Holiday.

The Oklahoma State Health Department wants to speak with individuals who may have encountered a rabid skunk in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 4545 6th Ave. in Stillwater.
If you came into contact with a skunk in the parking lot or surrounding area on or around Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, call the OSDH Epidemiologist-on-Call at 405-426-8710, available 24/7, for a risk assessment.

Meet Snowflake!!

This precious little lady is about 8 weeks old. We believe she is a Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuaha mix of some kind. She currently weighs 5 pounds and will continue to grow. We have no idea exactly how big Snowflake will get. But we are anticipating she’ll stay under 30 pounds.

Snowflake is such a little love bug and she wants to be with a person 24/7. She is going to require a lot of time, patience and training as she still has a lot to learn.
She is not housebroken and still needs a lot of work in the potty training department!!
Snowflake knows no stranger and she loves every person and cat and dog that she meets.
Snowflake will try to get any cats and dogs in the home to play with her.
This behavior can be a little overbearing for certain cats and dogs. Her future pet siblings are going to need to be very playful already and help to keep her in line!!

We want to remind everyone that puppies are a life long commitment. They require a lot of time, patience and training. And she will need love and care for MANY YEARS to come!

We are once again doing Foster for the Holidays this next week for Christmas!!

Foster for the Holidays is in place to give some of our shelter dogs a much needed break from the shelter. As well as giving our hard working staff a little break as we all work 365 days a year.

Pickup will be Friday (20th) or Saturday (21st) and drop off will be Thursday (26th) or Friday (27th)

We have a lot of hard to place dogs at the moment. Lots of very strong, dominant personalities that will need very particular foster families this year.
If you don’t have very many animals and have extra space in your home and heart, please reach out to us in regards to fostering!!
We will try our hardest to pair you with a dog that will be a good fit with your home/living situation!!

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Humane Society of Stillwater to bring you an exciting Holiday POP UP Art Shop experience. On November 16th, 10:30am - 1:30pm, come to Prairie with your furry friend (on a leash, of course), and we'll provide clay for you to make an imprint of your pup's paw. We'll also provide letters for you to stamp your pup's name onto the ornament. This is a fun way to give back to the community while creating a unique memento of your furry friend. Each ornament is $10, with 100% of the proceeds going back to the Humane Society

Cameron first came into our care way back on July 19th of this year.
He was pulled from a house of horrors with 8 other littermates and 2 adult dogs.
These pups were unfortunately living amongst a lot of trash and f***l matter forced to survive from the day they were born.

Fast forward 153 days, Cameron is now 6 months old and still living in our shelter.
Cameron has watched all but 1 other of his littermates find loving homes. Along with many other dogs in passing.

We have truly loved getting to raise this boy and watch him grow up and mature into his personality. However, it breaks our hearts that he has spent so many monumental moments of his life in our shelter.
We want more than anything for him to get to know what it truly means to be a dog and have a family of his own, with a yard of his own and a bed of his own!!

Cameron plays well with other dogs as long as he gets to be the one in charge and bossy! He is super smart and walks great on a leash.

We know he will make someone a fantastic companion and we hope that happens for him before his first Christmas!

I have included many of his pictures over the months with us so you can truly see how much he’s grown and matured!!

BOTH ADOPTED

Peanut and Marvin wanted to show off their Christmas sweaters!! They are hoping to spend their first Christmas’s with families of their own and not in our shelter.

Peanut (brown shorthair) and Marvin (fluffy white/brown) are about 9 weeks old. We believe these pups are Australian Shepherd/Retriever mixes. They weigh a whopping 4 and 5 pounds at the moment. We are anticipating they will be about 40-50 pounds full grown.
These boys are sweet as pie and would likely fit into most living situations as they are very young and still finding their personalities!! They would most likely do best with at least one other dog in their future home so that they always have company even if their humans aren’t around.

We want to remind everyone that getting puppies around Christmas time is not a decision to be taken lightly. Puppies are a life long commitment and will require care and love for MANY YEARS to come.
Since these pups are so little they will also require several more rounds of vaccines over these next couple months. As well as a lot of time, patience and training.

Meet Lexus and Lana!!
These girls are in the Christmas spirit and ready to have forever families of their own for the holidays!!

Lexus (black) is about 8 months old
Lana (white) is about 5 months old

These beautiful girls are super friendly, affectionate and playful!!
They were from separate litters and became best friends upon entering out kitten playroom together!! With a proper, slow introduction, they would love to have other kitties in their future homes.
We have no idea what they think about dogs.

We know they will make someone amazing companions!!

Meet Flo!!
This beautiful girl is about 2 years old. We believe she is a Shepherd/Border Collie mix. She currently weighs about 50 pounds.
Flo is an athlete, she will need a home that can provide her with lots of daily exercise and stimulation. She is a dominant female so she would do best in a home with no other dogs or maybe a male dog with her same energy level.
For being incredibly intelligent and needing activities to keep her mind sharp, she’s also a really chill dog that has no problem lounging around on the couch and enjoying some cuddles.
She’s a perfect balance and we have no doubts that’s she’ll make someone an amazing companion.
Flo is capable of climbing fences. So she would do best in a home with a wooden fence or with people who are able to spend a lot of time outside with her.

Meet Nemo. This handsome Terrier mix is about a year old. He was picked up as a stray and went unclaimed. Nemo is a high energy dog so he will need an active family with a big secure yard. He doesn't like to share his food or treats so he will need an experienced owner or a home with no other dogs. Nemo loves everyone he meets and loves to give hugs. He is working on his leash manners. Meet BoJack!!
This cute little guy is 10 or 11 years old. We think he is a Chiweenie and he currently weighs 11 pounds.
This poor boy came into our care in pretty rough shape with many medical issues. To list a few of the things we've treated BoJack for:
He had an ulcer in his left eye (it has been treated), he underwent a dental where 16 of his teeth had to be removed due to them being rotten down to the root, he was also treated for heartworms. BoJack seems to be ok with dogs that are his size.
BoJack is a super sweet boy who likes being held and giving kisses!! We know he will make someone an amazing companion.
He is beyond ready to find a family that will make the last several years of his life, the best years ever!!

Meet Sissy!!
This gorgeous girl is about a year old and she has been at the shelter since July 2024. We believe she is a Chocolate Lab/Pitbull mix. She currently weighs 65 pounds.
Sissy is a very high energy, intelligent girl. She will need a home that can provide her with a lot of stimulation and activity everyday.
Sissy is a very strong girl who doesn’t always know her strength and still has a lot of manners to learn because of that she would do best in a home with no small children.
She gets along with most dogs, but she is a bit rambunctious and can be overbearing for the average dog. She would do best with other high energy dogs.
We have no idea what she thinks about cats but she would probably want to chase them.
