Meet Romeo!!

This handsome boy is about 3 years old. We believe he is a Rottweiler mix of some kind. He currently weighs 61 pounds and may get a bit stockier.

Romeo is currently going through heartworm treatment. We are searching for a foster home to keep him while he undergoes treatment. Or better yet, a foster to adopt home!
We will help cover all the costs to treat his heartworms.

Romeo is a pretty high energy boy who likes to run around with toys and get zoomies. Through this first half of his treatment, he is good to run around and play as normal. Once he gets his injections and enters the second half of his treatment, he needs to keep his heart rate down for 30 days so the injection can do its job without causing harm to him.

We find that it is generally easier for dogs to stay calmer through their treatment while they are in someone’s home.

Romeo seems to do good with our other dogs here. We have no idea what he thinks about cats.

Romeo is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines and on heartworm/flea/tick prevention. His adoption fee is $85.

On Monday, April 21 the City of Stillwater honored the Humane Society with a proclamation helping us celebrate our 50 Year Anniversary. We are thrilled to be celebrating the thousands of lives we have saved. We can't wait to see what the next 50 years have in store for our shelter. We couldn't do what we do without the amazing support from our community! THANK YOU!

Meet Cane!

This handsome fella is about 10 months old. We believe he is a Pitty mix of some kind. He currently weighs 65 pounds and will likely get a bit stockier.

Cane is a big goofy boy full of nothing but love! He is still a puppy at heart and has a lot to learn as far as his manners and training go.
He is very attentive towards people and learns quickly as long as he has consistency.
So far at the shelter he has gotten along great with our other dogs. He has decently high energy levels when it comes to him playing. He would probably do best with other bigger dogs that can keep up with him.
Cane would love a great big fenced yard to run and play in everyday!
We have no idea what he thinks about cats.

Cane is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines and on heartworm/flea/tick prevention. His adoption fee is $85.

July of 2008 I walked through the door of the Humane Society of Stillwater as a Volunteer wanting to make a difference in the lives of the homeless animals of Stillwater. On Saturday, May 31, 2025 I will walk out the door of the shelter for the last time as the Director of the Humane Society. At our monthly board meeting in January, I announced to my board members that I was ready to put my leash down. This was not an easy decision for me to make because the shelter has been my number 1 priority for almost 17 years but it's time I put my family and friends in that number 1 spot. Helping over 13, 000 animals find their families is something I will always be proud of. I told my board of directors that I wanted to be a part of one more Walk and Wag so I hope I get to see many of you and your fur babies on May 3 for Walk and Wag. Thank you to each and everyone of you who has supported me and my shelter over the years. I have been blessed to have an amazing Humane Society family who have also worked their butts off for our shelter animals. I would have been lost without all of them. May 31 is right around the corner and I know this won't be my last thank you post because I have so many to thank. It's been a good ride, time for the next Mission in my life, I'm not sure what that will be but I'm excited for the future for the Humane Society and for me.

Meet Sphynx. This handsome boy is 1 or 2 years old. He came in with his brother Pharoah. They have lived with other cats and dogs. Sphynx is very scared at the shelter so he will need a loving and patient home to earn his love and trust. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is Negative for FELV and FIV. You can adopt him for $30.

Meet Ace. This sweet Lab mix is about a year old and currently weighs 60 pounds. He gets along with other dogs, we aren't sure what he thinks about cats. Ace likes to be with his people or with another dog otherwise he does whine and is anxious. He will do best in a home with a big secure yard and an active family that will keep him busy. Unfortunately he has had multiple ear infections that may have gone untreated so he has scarring on both ears. He may have chronic ear infections so he will need them checked often. Ace is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. You can adopt him for $85.

Take me back to Stillwater please. Been hard dipping back into the real world after BPS. I wanted to drop this on here again. Folks who know the Canadas know how much our pups and porch kitties mean to us. made these badass shirts. You should stop by and save an animal and sport one of these while doing it.
