I'll bet you didn't know October 1, 2024 is NATIONAL FIRE PUP day??? Canines, sometimes dalmatians, historically stood by to calm the horses that pulled the fire-wagons. This kept the horses still next to a burning fire.

In modern days they fill all sorts of roles: emotional support for those working within the firehouse, firehouse mascots, and assisting with fire-safety- education.
