How much weight can a horse carry?

In my experience, a horse can carry an infinite amount.

They can carry the weight of broken hearts, broken homes, and broken bodies. Countless tears sometimes comb their tangled manes. Moments when parents and friends cannot be there to help and hold a person, horses embrace and empower. They carry physical, mental, and emotional handicaps. They carry hopes and dreams; and they will carry the stress from your day when you can’t carry it anymore.

They carry graduations, they carry new careers, they carry moves away from everything familiar, they carry marriages, they carry divorces, they carry funerals, they carry babies before they are born, and sometimes they carry the mothers who cannot carry their own baby. They carry mistakes, they carry joy, they carry the good and they carry the bad. They carry drugs and addictions, but they also carry the celebrations.

They will carry you to success when all you have felt is failure. They will carry you, never knowing the weight of your burdens and triumphs.

If you let them, they will carry you through life, and life is hard, life is heavy. But a horse will make you feel weightless under it all.

Ringwood Trendy Pop made a triumphant return to competition this past weekend at Flora Lea Farm! After almost a year-long hiatus, he was excited and happy to be back to it. I'm so grateful for all the support he has had to get back to top form again; thank you to all who helped him on his journey!

From the beginning of hatching our “Road to Essex” plan back in February where we outlined the necessary training and competitions for preparation, Kendra has been all in with her homework with Elvis, extra lessons and training rides!
She checked off each stop on the roadmap—and brought home a ribbon at every event as proof of her accomplishments!
Not only that, but she managed to qualify for the American Eventing Championships in the process!
She coped with rain and lightning delays mid-competition.
She conquered nerves.
She handled setbacks with grace and kept moving forward.
And because of all that preparation, we’re celebrating a top 6 finish at Essex Horse Trials! I couldn’t be more proud.

Congratulations to Kendra and Ballyrimmon Copper, an Irish Manor import, on their sixth place finish at Flora Lea horse trials last weekend! The day captured all seasons weather-wise, including a delay for lightning, and the pair didn't let it dissuade them from a clean cross-country round!

Murphy competed in his first horse trials at the Bucks County Horse Park this past weekend. He brought home a ribbon in dressage for his score of 30.3, had a good stadium round, and came home clear cross-country to finish in 4th place out of 11 competitors. This horse is ready to be a star in his new home!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, Irish Manor competed at the first outdoor show of the season at Bit o' Woods Farm. Ballinglen Gherkin and Delboy Rocket made light work of the showjumping, and Kendra and her Ballyrimmon Copper brought home a sixth place in the Beginner Novice dressage. It was a great day with good weather, and made everyone excited for the 2024 season!

Jane delved into her remarkable journey as an Advanced Level event rider, dressage judge, horse show organizer, and successful business owner. Our students enjoyed hearing her stories and getting answers to their questions about everything from riding levels to show preparation and volunteerism.

Ballinglen Gherkin and Amy brought home a second place in his first show Stateside at the Horse Park of New Jersey this past weekend!

Murphy scored a 65% in his Training Level test with the judge commenting that he was a "lovely horse".

This handsome lad is going to a real contender in the show ring, already in the ribbons as a coming 5 year old.
