It feels so good to smile and laugh again! These past few days, starting with Divadora's very, very challenging foaling, her tragic passing, the subsequent bottle feeding of her filly, and the pairing of the nursemare with her foal this evening, all tested us deeply, in mind, body, and spirit.

I witnessed these women and Dr. John McDermott perform physical and emotional feats that defy description, powered by instinct, experience, tenacity, and love. We partnered together to accomplish absolute miracles of strength and devotion for Diva, her foal, and each other. Divadora was able to deliver this healthy filly because of her bravery and fortitude and because these incredible women and this superhero veterinarian combined together and never gave up, even in the face of desperate adversity.

To watch them now, tonight, successfully pair a sweet, gentle mare with Diva's spirited, clever, boisterous, adorable, loveable orphan brought this very challenging experience full circle and let us all breathe a collective sign of relief. We are all still gutted over the loss of Sue and Jim's treasured Divadora, but tonight was a win that we all sorely needed. Watching Queenie take Diva's filly in and love her so immediately and openly was one of the most beautiful experiences that I've ever been privileged to be a part of.

The Haven Oaks Farm family and Dr. McDermott from Granville Veterinary Service, Large Animal are second to none. Hats off to you, my friends, my family. I love you all, and I appreciate and respect you more than I could ever say. ❤️🏇

What an incredible mama! Queenie took in Divadora's orphan filly immediately, no hesitation, just pure maternal connection. As soon as she saw the filly, she started nickering and it went perfectly from there. 🥹

Their bonding was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever been privileged to witness. Thank you all so much for helping and a HUGE kudos to the team at Haven Oaks Farm, especially Sue Hooper, and Dr. McDermott from Granville Veterinary Service, Large Animal. Once again, a miracle has come to pass because of their incredible skills and their endless efforts of love.

And especially bless this sweet mare who walked, ever so gently, into the sacred role of nursemare. We will all be forever grateful. ❤️❤️

Second Update: The mare accepted the foal immediately and they are already securely bonded. Thank you all so very much!

Beautiful, brave, gentle Divadora pushed through the most challenging delivery I've ever witnessed yesterday, with the herculean support and efforts of the incredible team at Haven Oaks Farm and the miraculous veterinary support of Granville Veterinary Service, Large Animal.

Diva delivered a perfect filly and was able to see her and smell her before Diva tragically died from foaling complications. It was such a devastating day; the fact that Diva could deliver this baby safely under the circumstances is nothing short of a miracle. This sweet mama will be so very missed. We are all so, so sad, and so hopeful that her little legacy will survive and thrive.
