Lake Animal Hospital is a locally owned veterinary clinic that specializes in dogs and cats, although we have seen birds, rats, ferrets, rabbits, and turtles. We offer wellness exams, sick pet exams, vaccinations, nail trims, emergency treatment, spays, neuters, dental care, Laser Therapy, cremations, euthanasia, x-rays, general surgery, in-house lab, and so much more!

Check out our newbies in the dog room- Pearl, Yugi, Phoebe, and Prue! All four of them are searching for their forever homes as fast as possible.

Pearl is a shy, gentle, loving and sensitive soul. 🤍 As precious as her namesake, you will not regret welcoming this sweetheart into your home. 🪸 She is a young little thing at about 1.5 years old, and she will require regular grooming as her curly coat begins to flourish. ✂️

Yugi is a little ball of energy who desires only 1 thing in this world- humans! ❤️ He is all over us, literally jumping into the air to land in our arms. ⚡️ We promise he is just a SUPER happy boy, despite that ferocious looking grin. 😁 Yugi is about 1 year old and currently recovering from a neuter.

Phoebe and Pru are 3-4 month old German Shepherd sisters who are still trying to make sense of this world. 😵‍💫 Confusion and uncertainty about their unfortunate circumstance makes these two a bit timid, but they make a choice to be brave everyday in their pursuit of human affection and love. ❤️‍🩹 Lots of puppy kisses and cuddles are in store for those who get to know them! 👅

Meet the fosters! All 6 of these precious little ones have been livin the good life, cage free, in a home with members of our staff, but those are not their FUREVER homes! We need adoptions NOW more than ever!

Apollo, Artemis, and Athena are siblings who are master explorers, climbers, shoulder perchers, and cuddlers. They literally sit at your feet or crawl up your shirt, begging to be held and loved! 🥰 Apollo is the nurturer of the group, making sure everyone is clean and taken care of before he splits away to wreak havoc in your laundry basket. 🧺 Artemis is ready to play, any time, anywhere. Her attention can always be won with a wave of a teaser wand. 💫 Athena is the polite observer, watching her siblings go crazy from a distance and only joining in if the mood is right. She adores cuddles, but waits for you to notice her and make the first move.

Rumi and Serafina are sisters by heart. 💞 They were raised together and know nothing different! 🍼Rumi is softhearted and gentle, while Serafina has a bit more s***k and curiosity, but they compliment each other well. They both find safety and comfort in your arms, purring away. 😌

Boo’s foster fam calls him “Spook” because of how easily he jump scares… how fitting! 👻 He will jump backwards, sideways, front ways, and all ways if he’s startled, hobbling toward you and spitting like a big bad tom. 😤 Boo does not understand social queues and would do best with a bigger kitten or young cat that can handle his antics. If there’s nobody around to play with, he’ll keep himself occupied wrestling his ball tower, which he seems to have some kind of vendetta against. ⚔️ He is a crazy kitty, always full of energy.⚡️ When Boo is not going wild, he loves being held on his back, stretched to the max, with the back of his head rubbed.

Ophelia has a lot to be thankful for today- adoption! 🎉 She went home yesterday to begin her new life with the sweetest cat parents and a new companion- Kove 🐱. We are so happy for Ophelia, and we want to wish all of our adopters a Happy Thanksgiving! 🐾❤️ We are so grateful for you!

🚨EUTHANASIA DATES 12/12/25🚨
Luna, Cabbage, and Pancho all three found themselves here for the same reason- they bit. And no matter how much work we’ve done with them to learn and grow and trust, it doesn’t change what happened. We want to transfer them elsewhere, but finding rescues who will accept dogs with a bite history is a nearly impossible task. Of course, we will continue trying and researching, but their best bet is finding an adopter who can look past their past and give them a future. They deserve a second chance, but sadly they are running out of time.

🥬Cabbage: 1yo. Neutered male lab mix
Tricks: Come, sit, let’s go (loose heel), kennel, free, off
Cabbage is very food motivated and loves to train. He has recently graduated from slip lead to prong collar and is responding well to it. When he’s not training, Cabbage loves to run and play! He doesn’t seek out affection too often from those he trusts, but when he does he very much appreciates a tummy rub. Cabbage is independent, a little kooky, fun- loving, and cautious. He will need someone who will take things slow and focus on building a bond first and foremost. Pets and cuddles can wait until a relationship has been established.

🪇Pancho: 5 yo. Neutered male German Shepherd
Tricks: Sit, come, heel
❗️CANNOT RESIDE WITHIN STORM LAKE CITY LIMITS❗️
Pancho’s morale has improved a ton since he has begun obedience training! We are so impressed with how quickly he picks up on things, and he’s responsive enough to leash pressure that a prong has not been needed. This guy is chill, smart, and loving. Once he’s been given the patience and opportunity to move at his own pace, he’ll lean his body into your legs- this is how dogs show affection and trust. Pancho needs a family who will make him feel safe and secure. Let him know with your actions and your energy that he doesn’t need to react and protect, his humans have everything under control.

Luna brings the music, the energy, and the love. She howls and sings just like you’d expect, prefers to RUN rather than walk with her humans, and will offer her tummy to anyone willing to give her scritches. When she’s in a grumpy mood, a leash and a walk is the only thing to bring her out of her funk. She adores her outdoor time! Luna loves making new friends, but her humans need to know that despite her advances, it is best to be reserved with your affection rather than too much. Trust us, she will be okay, and it’s for the best!

All three of these dogs need structure, patience, and leadership in their new homes to keep problem behaviors from resurfacing. Daily exercise, mental stimulation, kennel time, hand feedings, and training will keep the dogs balanced and thriving in their homes. This little guy was found yesterday in the road at HWY 3 & M44. Intact male, no collar, incredibly skittish. The BV Sheriffs department came out and knocked on some doors in the area but he wasn’t recognized.
