First nest of 2022 came with the help of abundant spring showers and some warm days.

Here is the 🐢man finding himself ☝️ of 🖐 nests for the day.

Usually we’ll have some test runs scratching around maybe one or two nests on the first day. This year five momma alligator snappers came up to lay on the first day. All higher than average numbers too.

Lastnight though they decided 55 was a bit chilly to get their claws dirty.

Thank you all for your continued support even through the stagnant winter months this dream wouldn’t be possible if y’all didn’t share the same vision 🙏

Hey there friends! Shipping payment links will be emailed out Friday the 10th and turtles will begin shipping the 12th. If you are not ready there is no hurry to get your shipping paid. I will not run out of turtles. So work on your timetable. Once shipping is paid I will ship within two business days. Realize Wednesday is the last day of the week to do 2nd day shipping as I won‘t have turtles sitting in limbo over the weekend at FedEx. Next day packages ship Monday thru Thursday. Take weather into account if it’s hot where you live. If it’s going to be 90 degrees use morning delivery. Please review my care sheet if you are new to this species on www.turtleman.com Thank you for your patience this Summer. Now it’s time to get down to it!

Hello friends old and new!
Pardon the absence on here we have missed you!

Spring has entered full swing here in the heartland we know as the ozarks, so we and the lady alligator snappers have followed mother nature’s suit.

Lots of rain and cooler temperatures has brought a late start to the laying season, while also compressing the peak of the season’s workload into a day or two.

Yesterday we uncovered 49 clutches after another half inch of rain through the night. 1,335 tucked away eggs under very well hidden and rained on piles of dirt, with more rain in the forecast 😭

We go with the flow quite literally.
Wouldn’t have it any other way ✌🏻

The past couple days have been busy, fun and full of unforgettable memories with some of the coolest people and turtles in the universe. Life is grand and we’re oh so happy to call you all FAM 🙌

Just another day down at the river with the one and only Turtleman!

This is a favorite pastime of ours and a nice way to have fun and bring home quality turtle food all in the same throw.

If you can make your work look like play, it makes for a most fulfilling day. 🤗

Down here we have darters, suckers, bleeding shiners, chubs, stone rollers, even mad Tom catfish and log perch just to name a few.

What feeders/nonfeeders do you guys catch in your local rivers??

The muddy days of June... 😄👊🏻

These babies we dug 3 months ago are CURRENTLY HATCHING.

To those who are waiting for their emails for shipping,
BEAR WITH US. 🙏
Your hatchlings are still absorbing their yolk sacs and many 9/10 still have not hatched.
They hatch in a very similar time frame to when they were laid, and are on schedule. 👍🏼 NO NEED TO WORRY.

We will have emails sent out very soon, should any of you NOT receive an email regarding shipping payment feel free to remind us, but only after you’ve checked please we have a lot of orders 😉

Well the Summer is coming to a close and we’re getting very close to hatching some baby turtles here. I’ve instructed my webmaster to send out links to pay shipping costs and we’re planning on starting shipping the week of the 14th. Expect the payment link via email late in the Labor Day weekend. If there’s any address changes or additional turtles you want we can take that information by email, the FB message board for this page, or our Instagram page. I will still give you preorder prices for any additions to original preorders. If you aren’t quite ready no worries. Those links will work anytime so do this on your own timetable. I won’t run out of turtles. As soon as they start to hatch I’ll post some short videos. Thank you for your patience. Well most of you anyway. Lol.

This is typical behavior you should expect to see out of a hatchling ally snapper. Luring the fish to them but also playing position and becoming quite animated at times.

It’s no wonder so many of you are already enthusiasts of this animal, their story is fascinating and they show it daily in the wild and in captive settings that emulate their natural habitat in the wild.

We are just as stoked for those who are new to this creature!

When I’m around these animals (actually all animals) I’m not really thinking anything about the outside world and societal pressures.

Animals help remind me to take those necessary pauses in life and just get lost in observation and fascination.

What monday mornings look like.

Maybe this is one of your better faces, perhaps it is more of a “not to be messed with” face.

Whatever the face, context clues tend to help. This is where language and understanding is paramount. Whether it be body language or audible tones, we couple this discernment with memory to formulate the best “move”. I guess this goes for humans and turtles 😂🐢🙋‍♂️

You may notice a cornier side to the vocabulary used here in the heartland known as the Ozarks, and we find it to be quite wholesome. A natural side effect of a family business. 🐢🤓

Oh how wondrous the elements are to the human existence.

The very atoms that hold us together, are the very same atoms that take form into the many abundances of earth living that we get to enjoy.

Animals are an amazing reflection of just how beautiful it is just to be alive and living.

Here are the claws keels and gentle motions that carefully lay each egg in a hole in the ground, trusting they will make it to the water as healthy hatchlings when the time is right.

(Or trusting us to rescue their babies like they were once rescued from their one predator as adults, human beings). Well, some humans. 🤷🏼‍♂️

All the more reason they must be incredibly stoked for their babies to be appreciated by so many of you righteous souls!

No fish were harmed in the making of this video. THIS TIME... 😅😭

This is one of our hungry leucistic alligator snappers using every ounce of patience to catch one of these bold blue gills...

We have only caught the aftermath or seen this shortly upon introducing said fish to their home, maybe one of these times we will have a slow mo snack slow enough for our eager eyes to catch! 😍

We love having moments like these with our animals. 💚🐢

You should see the caked mud on the claws of the momma that laid these.

First time doing a turtle nest time lapse but with the increasingly fast times, sometimes we can only devote short little moments to each area of life!

We can sympathize! 😆

We are winding down the 2020 laying season but we have much more content to come. 🤗

In the tune of june we find so much harmony.

Rising with the sun has its perks, especially so when you get to see this everyday for only 2 and a half weeks out of the year.

In the wild, you’d be lucky to find such an occurrence.

Having a home in the heartland is something I’m very grateful to share with these animals, and the many others that chime in throughout the year.

Slowing down to appreciate life’s abundances is essential to our purpose and beneficial to our health.

We hope you’re all able to take that time when you need it!

While there may be much going on in the world, a mother’s responsibility remains the same!

The 2020 egg laying season has dawned and the momma alligator snappers are making their journey to the land from the pond.

Though a week late as seems to be the case with an array of wildlife across the country, the number of laying ladies each morning nearly doubles by the day.

In about 3 months these eggs will hatch to be babies that nearly anyone in the country can own, with the exception of a few states listed on our website.

To those who continue to follow us and support our family owned business, we thank you.

Each of you make it possible for others to find or rediscover what makes them happy, and it allows us all to connect based on our similar interests.

To everyone new to our page, feel free to message us if you have any questions, our site has a section for FAQ’s regarding turtle care, education about alligator snapping turtles and a gallery for reference or enjoyment.

This is definitely our busy time of year and a good time to tune in for fascinating videos and photos.

What’s up folk and fauna?

Pardon the social media absence these last few, our efforts have been less in the networking dept, more in the dirt where dreams take root. :)

We can all agree this is a year for the books, so let’s embrace in what we love, improve everyday and come together on things we can do for each other, near or afar.

Part of loving one another means we get worried at times. If any of you have questions concerning turtle care or specific details not mentioned on our care sheet, do not hesitate to contact us by whatever means necessary. Worrying only makes us tired!

While we don’t have any baby alligator snappers available at the moment, remember we are only a couple weeks away from our adult mommas laying eggs in the ground!

Another awesome thing about alligator snapping turtles.

They can handle dormancy even though a lot of their range doesn’t require it.

Most people who have a captive setting for their alligator snappers don’t normally induce this hibernation until their turtle is a few years old, if at all.

But as we’ve seen for years, many hatchlings do this from the git go.

This turtle is in it for the long haul.

Obviously only people who have an outdoor setup will try this, but some would never think these turtles can and have made it through several ice ages.

Temminckii Tuesdays are lit this time of year.

Some of you are finding us through your friends, mutual followers and interests, and even for those of you who do a simple google search for alligator snapping turtles.

All of which are awesome because we are all connecting with each other around things that we love.

This species of turtle now has a large audience in us humans. Imagine how seldom encountered they were eons ago before mankind’s mark.

Then all of a sudden us wild and crazy upright walking clothed sapiens go finding them and ending that million year streak of loneliness.😅

Hopefully we make them as happy as they make us. 🤣💚
