To my old owners, thank you for never replacing that metal chain you placed around my neck for a newer one because I was able to chew thru it, and it only took most of my teeth but I got out!
Thank you for keeping me alive for over 14 years even tho i never knew what was more then 6ft away.
I was pretty sure my end was coming when you didn’t come get me out but I knew one time you told me I was a good boy so I figured I just had to wait like a good boy and you’d surly come!!
But they only gave me one day dad so hurry…..
Dad….are you looking for me?
I think I’m running out of time…..the other cages are emptying fast
I promise I won’t chew thru the next chain please….
I’ll be a good boy
Please don’t let them kill me dad
I heard them say it was my day!
You finally remembered I was yours dad!!
I proudly pranced in my best wannabe puppy strut even tho you never saw it because my chain was always to short, all the way down the hallway til I went into the room and heard them yelling numbers.
They closed the door.
Those numbers must be them calling you dad!! Pick up your phone!!
“Next is ID number 2923
He’s a senior euthanasia.”
They gave me a little chocolate chip and my gosh dad it was like heaven.
“He’s next”
They put my leash on but I didn’t understand since the door was still closed dad but I had my chocolate breath so I knew I was so ready to prove to you I’m a good boy!!
I heard the phone ring and the humans stopped moving. I could feel their hearts starting to beat faster.
I’m scared dad.
They opened the door and said “come on boy”…
The door closed behind me. Forever.
I walked out to see these two ladies who weren’t you dad but smelled nice. A little too much like kitties but that’s ok. The little girl bent down to me and looked me in the eyes and dad, you never did that.
I decided to follow them out the door and protect them for however long I have left because that’s what good boys do dad.
I was hoping their yard would have more grass since yours was always just mud but knew I’d settle for simply a longer chain. That sweet little girl will surly make sure I have that.
She had more than grass dad. My name is cooper and I run so fast when I hear someone loving me enough to call me by it.
Why didn’t you give me one?
I’m their good boy.
Dad I just want you to know I found a real dad.
A family that’s mine to protect
Thank you for giving up me
Thank you for forgetting to replace my chains
Because Im 16 now and it turned out I had a lot of life left in me even if you didn’t care.
Dad I bet you wouldn’t believe it but those chains you had on me for 14 years, they turned me into a loving foster dad. I’ve helped save lots of babies and am gentle and kind to whoever needs me.
I just wanted to love you.
Do you ever think of me? Maybe when you see a dog that looks like me on the streets? I just want you to know, I kept my promise.
I’m a good boy.
