The New Hampshire SPCA will be closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving, but we invite you to stop by our Adoption Center from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday to take advantage of our adoption special!

Here’s the deal: Pick-your-price for the adoption fee of any indoor animal one year or older! While we may be discounting the price of their adoption fees, we promise they will give you 100% of their love. These cuties are just a portion of the deserving animals anxiously awaiting your visit on Friday. Keep an eye on our pages tomorrow for another album of your potential BFF candidates. 👀

Important details:
▪️All adopters must have an approved application.
▪️This special applies only to adult, indoor animals. Puppies, kittens, and farm animals are not eligible for discounted fees.

THIS FRIDAY ONLY! Our Black Friday Special is all about saving more lives! 🖤🐾

Our Adoption Center will be closed on Thursday in recognition of Thanksgiving, but will open on Friday at 11:00 a.m. for our Save a Life Adoption Special! We invite you to stop by and pick-your-price on the adoption fee of any indoor animal over one year old. We will be here until 4:00 p.m. helping folks find their perfect match and would be delighted to help you find yours!

Keep an eye on our website as more animals will be added as they are made available for adoption... and check back here for an album of adoptable animals tomorrow evening! 👀

Please note that while we hope to send as many animals home as possible, all adopters will need to have an approved application. Promotion is valid only on Friday, November 29 on adult, indoor animals; puppies, kittens, and farm animals are not eligible for the special pricing.

What an incredible night!

We are beyond grateful for the amazing support that made this year’s Auction for the Animals our most successful ever! It was truly an evening to remember, filled with laughter, generosity, and community spirit—all in support of the animals who need us most.

Thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, donated, and participated. A special thanks to Mark Fodero, our fantastic auctioneer, The Entertainment Nation for their fun digital photo booth, and Malloy Events for their AV services. We are also so appreciative of the incredible businesses and supporters who donated such amazing items. To our hardworking volunteers—you kept everything running smoothly, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

And the excitement isn’t over yet! The Online Auction is still open until December 7th, offering unique gifts and experiences while continuing to support homeless animals.

There are some adorable new faces in our Dog Pavilion this morning! We just made maybe THE goofiest group of dogs available for adoption, and we gotta say... if you want to adopt one of them, you gotta be down with lots of laughs and a good amount of PDA. 😉

Some dogs just have a way of wrapping you in love—literally!—and this group is filled with dogs like that. As these dogs are walked by our volunteers, it's easy to notice that every single one always finds a moment to pause, lean in, and love on their walker for a minute. They are so appreciative of attention. For some, it comes in the form of a lean on your leg and gentle ask for a pet... but for most of them, it comes in the form of a big hug—or 400 hugs... lookin' at you, Cotton Eye Joe. 🥰

Their love is as boundless as their energy, and they seem to instinctively know when you need comfort, making them the ultimate furry companions. No surprise, as they were sent up north to us by our incredible partners, Friends of the Animal Shelter - FOTAS Aiken ♥️

This pint-sized powerhouse may be small, but she’s convinced she’s the top dog of the universe… and you know what? She ain’t wrong. 😉

All jokes aside for a moment, this little lady came to us under heartbreaking circumstances. Dolly had spent her entire life with her beloved person, who recently had to move into a care facility and couldn't take her faithful sidekick.

Dolly is now facing the devastating reality of being without the person she adored most. She doesn’t understand why her cozy life is gone, why the familiar scent of her favorite human is suddenly missing, or why she’s in a new place with strangers instead of the arms she used to call home.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s get back to the fun… cause there’s SO much personality jam-packed into this 11-year-old, 8-pound frame.

Here are the essentials for Dolly’s ideal family:

▪ Have to have space in your closet for Dolly’s wardrobe because this little fashionista may or may not come with a variety of outfits. Hint: She does. A girl has to have options. 💁‍♀️

▪ Need to be readily available and eager to tuck her in at night. Do NOT offend her by suggesting she sleep in a dog bed on the floor. She wants to be in your bed, underneath your blankets… if there’s not enough room left for you, she says that sounds like a "you problem."

▪ Must have complete understanding that she is nothing short of a gift to the earth. Bonus points if you remind her of that frequently.

You know that scene in Step Brothers where Brennan says, “Robert better not get in my face!”? Well, that pretty much sums up how she feels about dogs and cats. Tolerant of their existence — even though she thinks she is ✨SO✨ much better than them — but she requests they respect her personal space.

If you oblige to her (toooootally reasonable) rules as listed above, you will be rewarded with a loyal friend for life. Once Dolly has accepted you into her pack, she will want nothing but to be right by your side through everything. ♥️

DO YOU KNOW ME? This friendly boy was found running along Route 4 in Nottingham about a week ago. He was held by the Animal Control Officer over that time, but no one claimed him. This boy is missing his family big time, and we know they're out there! Can you help us find them?

Contrary to what this photo shows, he has two black standy-uppy ears and two different colored eyes. He does not have a chip and is not neutered. He's a strong boy and is both people and dog friendly.

Back in September, we shared a story with you about a man who needed help when his cat population had gotten out of control. Our team visited his property multiple times to trap groups of these cats, all of which had been living outdoors and were under socialized.

Your support helped us bring all 75 of these cats to safety. Your compassion has helped us place all but eight so far.

It warms our hearts to see photos of these cats settling into their new homes… like Charlie, pictured here, who was known as Mosby while with us (check out our stories to see a sweet video). Although his former owner had the best intentions, Charlie came to us not knowing what a safe and loving home truly felt like. He was scared, avoidant of human interaction, and overall, pretty shut down.

But, as we've seen time and time again... love heals all. Just ask Charlie. 💛

Our work is never done, and certainly not for this group. Mogul, Monopoly, Montana, Montgomery, Moscow, Mountain Dew and Sterling are currently available for adoption. We have photos of them in our stories! They are patiently waiting to follow in Charlie’s footsteps and see for themselves how it feels to be safe, loved, and home.

These cuties all take great comfort in other cats; if you are interested in adopting a pair, we would be happy to waive the second adoption fee.

Emerald is an 8-month-old, 20-pound mix who’s traveled all the way from the beautiful Bahamas to find her forever home! This social butterfly has an endless amount of love to give—and some pretty adorable toe beans, if we do say so ourselves! She’s full of puppy energy and would thrive with a family who loves outdoor adventures, long walks, or plenty of backyard playtime. 🎾

This clever girl is already crate trained and even has a fun party trick—she rings a bell when she wants to go outside! Emerald has experience with other dogs as well as cats and children, making her the perfect addition to just about any home. Her former family—who sadly had to surrender Emerald because their resident dog wasn't enjoying having a little sister—had nothing but fantastic things to say about this little cutie.

Her cheerful spirit and fun personality make her a joy to be around. Whether she’s bouncing around with excitement or curling up by your side after a fun-filled day, there's no doubt that Emerald will bring plenty of light and happiness to your life. 💚

Last Thursday, our team welcomed 38 animals to New England on a tarmac in Portland, Maine! 🥰 Thanks to our friends at BISSELL Pet Foundation and Cathy Bissell, we were able to pull some incredible dogs, puppies, cats and kittens from five overcrowded organizations in Louisiana. We are so excited for them to find the safe and loving homes they’ve been waiting for right here in New England.

We gotta say… there’s a TON of personality in this group! 😁 Our team is hard at work providing medical exams to each of these animals and spay/neuter surgeries to those who need them. They will be added to our website in the coming days as they are made available. If you’ve been waiting for your next best friend to come along, please keep an eye on our website and come in during our Adoption Center’s open hours!

Meet Maddee, a resilient, 60-pound sweetheart who has come a long way to find her forever home. 💛 After surviving parvo as a young pup, she was adopted, only to be found abandoned nearly a year later with a burn across her back. She healed, was adopted again, and then returned due to no fault of her own. But... her journey from Texas to New Hampshire marks a fresh start—and we just know her perfect family is out there! Stop by our Dog Pavilion, and you might notice that Maddee doesn't always present super well in her kennel. But, if given the chance to meet you outside where there aren't as many barking dogs or a large pane of glass keeping her from soaking up all your affection, you'll quickly realize how lovely she is. Simply put, Maddee is a complete joy to be around: she's friendly, playful, and full of charm.
