Well it's been a week...... but we are happy to post that the Akita puppy who until today didn't really have a name, bc she was so new to her home, she was being delivered to her home and didn't even make it inside, she managed to escape, she was extremely under socialized, she lived outdoors her entire life, she came here from N. Carolina so everything was different, she managed to find some of the best hiding spots, but did find our trap, she was very nervous and only made it half way in, but then something happened, we aren't sure what, whether work being done to a home near her hiding spot, wildlife, or humans....but something made her go deeper into hiding and she was gone for 3 days, today's plan was to come search the area all day, but plans changed when she showed back up on camera at 12am! Now that's not a great time to drive 30 minutes away to set a trap, especially with tons of wildlife, so instead we spent the night watching her and seeing her actions, I came around f 8:30 this morning grilled, set the trap and sat in my car, less than 5 minutes later this sweet girl showed up and did exactly what she was supposed to do....Welcome to the start of your brand new life Zena🐾🐾
I Did my best to explain to Zenas new family, survival mode, and decompression, I told them it's not a good idea to take her for shots at tractor supply today, no grooming or baths, as much as these things seem like the best for dogs that have been out for over a week....it's not it's the worst.... they can freak out, it won't help with gaining confidence to become a great dog, they may get scared and react out of fear and bite... they can and will outsmart any human and if she escapes again...... it won't be as "easy" as it was to trap her again . I don't know if they took my advice as serious as it should be but let's hope they do. Valerie and Maurice, thank you for trusting us to get your baby home safe, it isn't easy listening to somebody to tell you to do nothing and wait, but you guys did it, wishing you guys happy tales and Zena happy tails from now until furever 🐾🐾
As always huge thank you to the community for sharing, calling in sightings and letting us trample all over your property at all hours of the night.
