tremely hard start...

Tanja found Clover as a motherless kitten, wandering near a community campsite’s kitchen facilities, begging for food, yet finding no one kind enough to nourish her. She was constantly chased away by kitchen workers and treated as a nuisance, when all she wanted was food. Emaciated, scared and far from the pretty thing she became, Clover won the heart of Tanja and her fellow campers, who made it their mission to catch Clover, which they were able to do on their final day at the camp. Tanja rushed her to a veterinarian, who felt Clover's chances were grim, at best. But Clover rebounded in the coming weeks. Tanja socialized her and gave her a permanent loving home for 13 years. Our beloved Clover passed away in November of 2015. Clover’s story is testament to what a difference rescue can make in the life of an animal, and how much of a difference we humans can make in the lives of our fellow beings. It’s the kind of difference that Clover Cat Rescue makes for countless cats and kittens in the Patrick County area who would have no chance otherwise. Clover Cat Rescue saves cats from euthanasia at the local pound or takes them out of equally life-threatening circumstances. The group places the cats in temporary foster homes until a forever-home is found. In addition to finding permanent homes for cats, Clover Cat Rescue places a strong emphasis on spay/neuter education & community action programs, such as our bi-monthly spay/neuter transport helping cat-owning members of the community with grant supported spay/neuter service. UPDATE: We were able to trap the mother to the newborn babies. The family is reunited and doing well. Still looking for a foster for the three 2-3 week old kittens that were found under a car.

Looking for bottle feeders or folks with nursing moms in the Stuart VA area. Someone just turned three newborn kittens into the Patrick County pound.
Another person just found three abandoned 2-3 week old kittens under a car.

UPDATE: THANKS TO ALL WHO SHARED THIS POST, BUDDY HAS FOUND A HOME!
URGENT PLEA! Buddy has quite the story, he was picked up as a stray in Ararat VA and had a collar and rabies tag on, but all efforts to locate his owner lead to dead ends. During that time the Patrick County Public Animal Shelter in Stuart, VA had a Parvo outbreak and poor Buddy got sick with Parvo as well. The PC shelter ladies were determined fight for him, and with their efforts and care he pulled through. Sadly, still nobody has come to adopt him! Now he has been there since May, and since he's been there the longest he is next in line for euthanasia as the shelter fills up.
Buddy is 6 years old, he is a Redbone Coonhound mix. He is affectionate, happy, playful and doesn't seem bothered by other dogs. He is kennel broke and will bark to go outside. It only costs $10 to adopt from the shelter and he will be neutered before he goes home. PLEASE SHARE THIS POST! Somebody out there will love this dog. The phone number to call is 276 694 6259.

The owner has asked me to put out a plea for urgent placement of her 4 cats. She is going through a difficult time and uncertainty and wants her pets to have a safe place. Construction has started for four kitten runs at the rescue. We have so many little guys that need to come out of their cages, but adoptions are slow. Help us out by adopting one or two babies, or consider making a donation toward the $1,000 in material we just had to purchase.

There's nothing sweeter than a kitten! This litter is still very young but everyone is eating good and mom seems to be over it. They can be adopted now.

This trio is still wondering why the new landlord didn't let them stay in their home. They are adjusting to life at the rescue, but hope to be part of new families soon again. Phoebe on top is very playful and outgoing. Remy in the middle has lots of personality and is very smart, KitKat on the bottom is gentle and sweet. All are young, under two years of age, spayed/neutered and current on vaccines. Please reach out if you are interested in adopting one, two, or all three!

Angels of Assisi is inviting the public to bring their cats and dogs to the Berglund Center in Roanoke Saturday, June 8th, for a Pet Health Fair! From 10 am to 2 pm, Angels of Assisi Veterinarians and staff will be offering well pet and sick pet exams, vaccinations, and care to family pets. We are under a public health alert from the Roanoke City Health District due to a confirmed case of rabies found in a skunk from Salem, VA, so please consider coming out to get your pet's vaccinations updated. All are welcome regardless of income or residency, and parking is free. Exams will be first come first serve, so we suggest an early arrival to secure a spot.

Prices are as follows:
Well Pet Exam - $10
Sick Pet Exams - $20 plus the cost of medication
Rabies Vaccine, FVRCP Vaccine, Parvo/Distemper Vaccines, Nail Trims, and Microchip - $10 Each
Flea and Tick Medications will also be available

ADOPTED!!! This sad face belongs to an 18 month old black Lab who was abandoned at the Patrick County Public Animal Shelter by his owner. He is the sweetest dog, calm, gentle, obedient, and already knows basic commands. He would be a very loyal family pet. Please share this post so we can get him into the loving home he deserves.

UPDATE: The poor girl had her puppies early this morning.

We’re looking for a foster home for this pregnant dog. She was picked up as a stray on Woolwine Hwy and is currently at our local pound in Stuart. We'd like to bail her out before she has her puppies so she can give birth in a safe, quiet environment.

UPDATE: Bubba is back home!
LOST CAT: Bubba has been missing from his home at Five Forks Rd. and Salem Hwy in Stuart for 3 days. Bubba was adopted from us back in 2020, and he is an emotional support animal for a teenager. He is very loved and missed. Please be on the lookout for him and call 276 229 8614 if you see him.

Sweetie loves donuts from the Donut Depot in Stuart. Josh was so kind to give me a box of misshapen donuts for her. He said I can come by any time and pick up scrap donuts for Sweetie. Good people...and good donuts!
