I grew up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin where my family foraged for berries and plants, hunted and fished for food and made maple syrup, among other back to the land activities. It’s part of the cult
ure, being in tune with the ecology of everything from the first spring frogs, to the best berry patches in summer and knowing how the deer herd survived each winter. From a very young age I can remember being most comfortable in nature. Getting into my 20s, I found great company in the farming community of Stevens Point, where I started working the land on my own and recognizing my land ethic. Nature is my number one passion and tending to plants is what I’m good at. I’ve been a professional landscaper, a side hustle garden weeder, dabbled in ethnobotany and herbalism, worked on a number of farms, and had numerous gardens of my own. I have continued to forage, hunt, fish, garden, make medicine and farm throughout my adult life. One of my Grandmas knows me as “The Farmer”, which brings me joy and gives me purpose. So here I am, a land steward for a half acre urban farm that has been so much fun creating. My husband and I have transformed what was a grass lawn by planting over 200 native trees and shrubs, a landscape shade bed, a vegetable garden, a prairie and we dug a pond. Like nature, expect the offerings of Nuthatch Nursery to continually grow and evolve with the seasons. Thanks for stopping by!
