We are closed today but the animals are still getting lots of love and attention thanks to the staff and volunteers who are spending the holiday at our shelters. ❤️ We are so grateful and know the animals are, too! Regular adoption hours will resume tomorrow and there will be lots of adorable faces ready to greet you in hopes of kicking off the new year in new homes! 🫶

Adoption update! ❤️❤️
"We adopted Archer at the beginning of October 2025. We were nervous about how he and our dog would get along. It’s been a long process, but they can coexist in the same room now! At the shelter, we asked if he was playful, but he apparently wasn’t there for long, and they were unsure. But he then started playing with his toy in the room in front of us, which happened to be a Christmas toy. The lady who showed us around let Archer keep that toy, and it’s still his favorite toy to play with. We think Archer loves Christmas because once we put up our decorations, lights, and got our tree, started playing Christmas music and Christmas movies he started coming out of his safe space, hanging around more, and likes to watch the Christmas movies with us and brush up against the tree. He also loves to stare out the window and look at Christmas lights. He loves attention, and boy, is he getting it! He has been so spoiled with attention and all the toys in the world. He’s not one to cuddle, but he likes to be close and is always purring so loudly. We think he’s very happy here, and we are so happy and lucky to have him as well ❤️" Emma A.

Step back in time and experience the magic of the holidays at Heritage Village every Friday and Saturday in December from 3-6pm! Here you'll find historical buildings beautifully decorated in period-appropriate style. You can tour the Village, enjoy cookies and hot chocolate in the Greene Store, and look for the building supporting WHS! You can then vote for your favorite display with a donation, which goes to support the WHS Door County Campus and the Door County Historical Society. ❤️

Santa is a busy man, but he made sure to stop by our Door County Campus on Saturday, Dec. 6! 🎅 We owe the success of the day to everyone who attended, as well as our wonderful volunteers, donors, and staff for their hard work and dedication. It was a wonderful afternoon, and we loved meeting so many amazing families and furry friends! ❤️
A special thank you goes out to George Beckers, who made it possible for Santa to visit 🎅, and Heather Massart of Luuna Photography, the genius behind the camera 📸!

Your pets can join in the fun this holiday with their very own stocking! 🎁 Each stocking is filled with a variety of goodies, including treats, toys, and handmade lap blankets. Available for both cats and dogs, they are just $10 each, and all the proceeds benefit WHS!
Stockings are available to purchase during adoption hours while supplies last.
