After going through all the wonderful photos from Santa's visit, we want to recognize two very special volunteers! George Beckers, who made it possible for Santa to visit πŸŽ…, and Heather Massart of Luuna Photography, the genius behind the camera πŸ“Έ!
They helped us tremendously to make our event a special one! ❀️

WHS has taken in a group of 23 kittens and cats who were surrendered to our care from a single household, and we're expecting more to arrive from that home in the coming days. Many are under-socialized and require medical attention for a variety of ailments.
As their care plans are determined, we will be placing some of the cats into our foster program, while others may stay at the shelter as they recover before eventually becoming available for adoption.
In the meantime, we would be so grateful for contributions of any size to help offset the costs of their food, veterinary expenses, medications, supplies, and care. You can make a gift using the button below or by giving online at https://wihumane.me/Kittens121224. We do not receive general government funding and rely on donations from people like you, so we can’t thank you enough for truly making this work possible. β™₯
If you or someone you know is struggling to provide care for animals, it’s important to reach out for help. With this many animals, conditions can quickly spiral out of control, affecting not only the animals, but the owners, their families, and the community. Please contact your local animal welfare organization, law enforcement, or health department for supportive resources. We’re here to help in any way we can.

This past weekend we hosted our Photos with Santa event at the WHS Door County Campus, and it was a blast! We owe the success of the day to everyone who attended, as well as our wonderful volunteers, donors, and staff for their hard work and dedication. Thanks to the Rotary Interact Group members Delaney Skiba, Megan Selle, advisors Tonya Felhofer and Allyson Fleck, and Stephanie Skiba for decorating our space earlier in the week and for volunteering their time on Saturday to ensure things went smoothly. We’re also grateful to our generous raffle basket donors: Sturgeon Bay Target, Stone’s Throw Winery, Tractor Supply Store, Robertson Orchards, Kwik Trip Store #1209, Bryan and Tami Mazur, and an anonymous friend. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this day so special – through your generosity, we raised $1,000 to benefit the animals in our care! ❀️

*For anyone who got a photo with Santa, your photos have been uploaded to our website using the URL you were provided during your session! Feel free to let us know if you have any issues accessing them. Thanks so much!

πŸŽ‚ Today, the Wisconsin Humane Society celebrates 145 years of service to the community! Founded in 1879 as the first humane society in the state, several historical Milwaukee leaders were involved in the creation of our organization, including Samuel Marshall of M&I Bank, and Captain Frederick Pabst who cared deeply about the health and happiness of the horses who pulled his beer wagons. You can read more about the fascinating history of the organization in our centennial celebration booklet here:https://www.wihumane.org/file/About%20Us/100.pdf
We are proud to still be making a difference for animals and families today, all thanks to your steadfast support and advocacy! ❀️ We’d love to hear your favorite memories or experiences with WHS in the comments below – we may even share them in our newsletter or posts. Thank you for your empathy, generosity, and kindness, and cheers to many more decades of service! 🎊

Zeus came to us emaciated with a skin condition, pressure sores, an ear infection, a respiratory infection, and signs of dental disease. Now, he’s gained more than 25lbs, he’s happy as can be, and he’s on the road to a full recovery. We have the very best community and we are tremendously grateful for each and every one of you!
There’s still time to have your gift of any size matched for using the donate button below or at https://wihumane.me/GivingTuesday2023!

πŸ’Œ Would you consider making a gift to support dogs like Zeus? Donations will be MATCHED for by some incredible friends until midnight tonight!
When Zeus arrived at WHS, the 3-year-old pup was emaciated. His skin was red, itchy, and inflamed, with patches of thinning and missing fur. His ears were infected. His eyes were infected. Even his teeth showed signs of disease. Despite the pressure sores across his body, he wagged and wiggled to greet us, eagerly soaking up all the attention he could get. Within a few weeks of treatment and a specialized diet plan, Zeus gained 23lbs and his conditions have started to clear up. He continues to make progress in our care, all thanks to the support of people like you. ❀️
If you’d like to help pups like Zeus and have your gift matched for animals and the people who love them, you can use the donate button below or visit https://wihumane.me/GivingTuesday2023. Thank you so much!

Donations are being MATCHED today until midnight, up to $25,000!! πŸ’™πŸ’™ That means your donation of any size will go twice as far for animals like Zeus, who arrived emaciated with a skin condition, pressure sores, an ear infection, a respiratory infection, and signs of dental disease. Your gift will also support cats like Eleven, who underwent amputation surgery after a badly broken leg, and pups like Bubba who required eye surgery and a specialized diet plan to help him gain weight. All three of these precious patients are currently recovering under the watchful care of our vet team, alongside hundreds of others who needed medical treatment across our organization.
To make 2x the difference for animals like Zeus, Eleven, and Bubba this , you can use the donate button below or head to www.wihumane.org/givingtuesday.
Thank you so much for making a difference for animals and the people who love them! ❀️

Our Story

The Wisconsin Humane Society is an independent non-profit working locally in the Sturgeon Bay, Green Bay, Saukville, Milwaukee, and Racine communities to help animals and the people who love them. WHS doesn't receive any general government funding, nor is WHS affiliated with any national organizations like ASPCA, HSUS, or PETA, so donors like you make a huge difference in the lives of local pets!
