"Always offer your horse a feel that means something." - Buster McLaury Midwest Horse Fair welcomes Buster and Sheryl McLaury!
Both came from ranching and horse backgrounds as their families worked on and managed ranches while growing up. Buster and Sheryl have been married for over forty years and live on their own place west of Paducah, Texas.
Buster worked on and managed big cow outfits in west Texas, including the 6666’s. He brings a unique perspective into his clinics and demos. Over 40 years around livestock has provided him with a wealth of information, experience, and stories which he readily shares with others.
As a youth, Sheryl learned responsibility by having chores, taking care of animals and showing in 4-H. She always worked a little harder to prove herself-showing grit and determination in working with horses, cattle and cowboys. Through the years, she has earned the respect of those she has worked with.
The couple met Ray and Carolyn Hunt in 1985 and the Hunt’s became friends and mentors for the next 25 years. Buster and Sheryl began offering clinics to the public in 1997 and about the same time started a “custom c**t starting” business. Their experience with thousands of horses and tens of thousands of cattle enable them to bring a very unique perspective into their clinics and demo’s – using “natural horsemanship” while getting a real job done.
The McLaury's goals in their clinics are to help people better understand the horse and how to work with him in a manner that is fitting to him, thereby creating an environment of trust, understanding and enjoyment for both horse and rider. Welcome Buster and Sheryl in 2024!
